it really isn't normal that a foal doesn't try to stand after an hour. I am a bit worried

I'm no expert but mum should be showing abit more interest by now, maybe feeding her was a bad idea untill the bond was built when he was born

The foal actually appears to be afraid of mum

Foal now drinking on his own and mare has passed afterbirth.

There were 3 people in the stable before, during and after the birth. It's only after they left (after at least an hour) that mum and baby have had the chance to bond.

Hopefully ok now.
