Marestare

i found this last night and spent ages trawling through looking at expectant mums, aready there babies and one big skewbald who lay in the middle of the stable legs and tail twitching, belly moving occasionally. very jittery sleeper! :D

Owner posted yesterday/day before? Said mare was high risk and lost her last two at birth. Fingers crossed this one goes to plan.

Sorry! I watched her last night and my daughter stayed up watching til about 3am, she's just gone out to the pictures with her boyfriend, she'll be gutted if she gives birth now

It says on the live updates underneath that she is very close now and that was only 3 hours ago, I hope she hasn't had another foal die poor mare and owner. :(

Very sad indeed 80( Though why they put the mare in foal again when it's happened twice already? To happen once is horrible luck, twice suggests a physical problem and three just shouldn't be allowed to happen 80(

This mare wasn't PUT in foal but unfortunately my stallion adores her and seems to have managed it through the fence. She lost her foal due to a back leg getting stuck which is not my fault. The vet was called as soon as her milk tested ready but he arrive 4 minutes too late. Other than putting up a cam and watching her day and night there wasn't anything else I could do.
Each to there own opinion but your tacky comments are very hurtful.

My comment was one of genuine sadness on behalf of the mare, foal and owners, and a welfare point that I would stand by. My moral code when it comes to animal care would forbid me from putting a mare (or any animal) with a repeat history of failed pregnancies into foal, and I would consider it my personal responsibility to ensure she is not covered again either by intention or accident as far as is possible. If that's tacky, then I'll wear the badge proudly. I however believe it to be caring and reasonable.
