Hi.

Does anyone know if the fit of these two turnout rugs is similar.
My horse had a mark todd rug on last year and fitted reasonably well, (occasionally slipped, but little shoulder rubs). I had to throw the rug out as it was ripped to shreds courtesy of my other horse. She does not fit into Weatherbeta rugs, rub badly on shoulders.

I was hoping to replace with the amigo t/o rug, as cheaper and nice quality, but unsure if they are a similar fit to the mark todd.

Any help appreciated. :)

I've found shires rugs to be a good fit on my mare - mark todd ones suit her well too. I don't have any amigo ones, but her rhino ones fit well. For turnouts shires are best, for stable rugs then rhinos are best. Don't bother with Masta though, no hair on shoulders at all, poor girl.

Amigos are a little bit closer fitting round the chest but if your mark todd slipped a bit then the amigo would probably fit nicely. My old lad had amigos as he is quite narrow chested and they are nice rugs, have to say i love the mark todd my youngster has tho!

Ditto this. Prince wears Amigo's which fit perfectly. I have one MT and it fits ok but is far too roomy round the chest and shoulders and probably would rub if i used it daily.

I bought three fly sheets in the summer for my Shagya mare who is prone to rub her mane. The Amigo neck cover was much too short but fitted well the Mark Todd much too narrow and rubbed her shoulders within a day, so I stopped using it.

Have got amigo rugs for both my horses. They fit them both really well and have never had any problems with them

if you are buying the amigo rugs please buy the heavy denier (1200 +). the lighter 600 denier dont take much to rip/shred. but quite a good cut fit wise! for the money.

My connie x TB has Amigos and they have never, slipped or rubbed his shoulders. They are great rugs at an affordable price. Mine are still going strong 6 years later. Make sure you get the 1200D outer though

Yeah i agree, the 1200 are def better. I also find the neck covers a little short but they fit fine in every other way. My rug came with a Medium so might buy a large separately.

My mare is a 6'6" in both Fal and Mark Todd, In the amigo she is a 6'9". I have been advised by two companies to buy next size up and they've been right.

Ooh thanks for that Lotty. She is a 6'3 in Mark Todd although I would say a little big and the same with the fal. Wandering if that is why they are slipping, but then the 6' looked a little small. So maybe 6'3 might be perfect, if a little on the small side. Shall definitely get the 1200D as have a few rug wreckers!!
