Need a new pair of boots for eventing season, and looking at the Mark Todd Competition ones, anyone have them or tried them?

what are they like?
What are the sizes like as would be buying them online and not able to try them on...

any other feedback or suggestions welcome.

thanks,

Shane

my mum got them and they rub her ankles like crazy when walking (only used at shows, so she doesnt even walk far in them.) ok when on the horse. she hates wearing them but doesnt have any others!

Ive heard a lot of good things about ariat bromont - im waiting for mine to arrive, so i'll let you know when they arrive!

I have the MT competition boots and love them they fit really well, look smart and are very comfortable. Luckily for me they do a Short as well as a Regular length so I dont have to go through the them rubbing the backs of my knees as they are too tall !
Sizing I would say is pretty standard, I got either a 4.5 or a 5 ( cant remember which) which is my normal shoe size so I would say they come up neither big nor small. My friend liked them so much she immediately went out and bought a pair as well - I think they are good value for money.

I don't have the comp boots but have a pair of MT winter boots with fur lining. I love the look of them and they're so cozy!! But I only got them in November and they haven't had loads of wear and already have a hole :(

I got the narrow calf as I have fairly skinny calves and they are just snug but the wide calf was too wide.

thanks all.

Bromonts were the others l was looking at GUG, but was unsure about the suede on the inner calf... so would really appreciate hearing what you think of them.

Wore them all saturday, then most of the day sunday at a show. someone else in the colllecting ring was also waering them.

They look better on. They wont be the easiest to clean, because of the suede, but are super comfy. Handy that theyre waterproof, as mum parked outside the biggest ever puddle. theyre pretty long (but fifnt rub the back of my leg none the less), and roomy for your foot, but they didnt rub :). Youve got decent foot flexion too.

Theyre worth a look.
Good luck!

I have the MT ones, they are great, realy comfy and had no problems with them rubbing anywhere. I have the lace up competition ones. They are so soft and comfortable to ride in, used to love my sarm hippiques but the MTs are alot nicer to ride in than them.

I'm hoping to get a pair of these after trying them on in my local tack shop. They were lovely leather, seemed well made and fitted my calf well. Annoyingly though they have sold out so I am trying to find a pair locally I can just go buy so I can try them again first.

I am selling my Bromonts to buy the MT Comp boots - the Bromonts were a huge dissapointment for me. I don't think they are very well made, mine look shabby when they have been hardly worn and well looked after and I feel like they were a waste of my hard earned cash... :(

If I can't get the MT boots I will buy another pair of Mountain Horse High Calibers with the money from the sale of my Bromonts. I only got rid of them for the Bromonts as I had lost weight and they were too wide but I'd have them back in a second - and just get used to wearing themwith thick knee high socks! :D
