All I can say is WOW - bought one of each and they arrived today

(I have the Coolex in green):

Can honestly say I think I prefer it to the Thermatex (never thought I would say that!) It is not so heavy and I reckon I will get way more use out of it - I could never use my Thermatex in the summer for travelling, etc as it was just too hot, but this is just the ticket - VERY chuffed

The JHL is really, REALLY nice:

VERY roomy for my big shouldered mare, lots of tail coverage and a long neck (I find a lot of combos are not long enough in the neck, and my mare is short necked!) I thoroughly recommend

Also means I can finally clip her out - YAY no more silly 2 tone!

You can win a Coolex on this site

http://www.old-dairy-online-saddlery-shop.co.uk they sell both, as do many, many outlets obv, but the Coolex was a darn site cheaper than Thermatex and the JHL is cheap! Was having probs getting a MW at this time of the year but really pleased with it (I actually wanted a MT TO as I have MT stable rugs and an MT LW TO and neck which I love and know they ft my mare, but this is a super alternative)!

I saved up to buy a Thermatex last year - wish I hadn't bothered as the front is really stretched in only three months' use, and my friend has a Coolex which is far nicer and cheaper! I always find the JHL/ Mark Todd rugs have nice hoods, they really reach down to the ears all the time.

I have the JHL HW combo and it’s a really nice rug but the belly straps are a bugger to do up, especially when your fingers are so cold you can’t feel them!
They are great because they don’t ever come undone, but I found there is a bit of a knack to them, saying that maybe I’m just thick!

I do LOVE the Thermatex but as you have said I only ever use mine in the winter(when clipped),as I find them far to heavy for summer use.
I may just tell the OH it was your fault!
