Mark Todd - Dusky Moon

I know Dusky Moon is Eddie Stibbe's horse, do you know who used to own him before Eddie. Was he one of Karen Dixon's horses and Eddie changed his name?

Must have changed its name or imported it because it went straight out at OI/A in 2004.

Yes he was one of Karens but i cant remember which one.

I looked on BE at Karen's horses and it doesn't tie up with any? Says breeding unknown born 1994 but I can't see any of Karen's horses that correspond to that, not even the DOB.

there are a lot of omissions in the BE records back then though, tbh. sometimes you have to cross-reference horses etc... for instance some of my horses don't come up at all in certain searches etc.
i am wracking my brains trying to remember the horse's former name.

I always thought Dusky Moon used to be The Honourable Bob but Eddie Stibbe changed his name because he liked to use the 'Dusky' prefix on his horses?

Yes of course, the honourable bob rings a bell. Eddie always used to prefix his horses names with 'Autumn' but seems to have stopped doing that. He has bought some fab horses, a number of which from Toddy so it doesn't surprise me that he's got the ride on Dusky Moon

Yep, I had a quick google and I'm sure he was THB. Shame they haven't kept his details up to date on BE as he was by Another Hoarwithy who is a really good stallion, deserves to get the credit for him.

dusky moon was always that. the honorurable bob was renamed to autumn something or the other, you know i know about these things xx

Doesn't Dusky Moon have a blaze, whereas THB had no white markings?

Just looked at BDWP and it says Phillip Dutton ride Dusky Moon at Blenheim in 2003 so maybe he brought him off him

I'm sure Eddie Stibbe also brought The Hounorable Bob as well - maybe THB became Autumn Breeze III - he seemed to aquire him soon after KD stopped riding him

Most ones that Eddie buys have the Autumn prefix, a horse I used to work with - Abervail Clair View became Autumn Sunrise - sounds like a paint colour!!!

If a name is changed it changes it for the horse's whole record on BE.
