I have finally decided to upgrade my horrid old leather boots, having given myself bruised ankles hunting in them the other day. I don't want to spend loads as I have an enormous wish list of other new horse things I 'need'.

Don't want to go the ebay route as I have stupid thin calves which are also freakilshly long, and I don't want to rely on random guess measurements from sellers. I have seen some MT boots online at a really good price - anyone got any? Are they soft? Do they last? Any other nice but cheap (less than £150) boots to consider (must be narrow/long)

Got to say Mavis I have the Ariat Bromonts and they are fantastic may be a little more than you are looking to pay but worth it! Not had the MT ones so not much help - sorry totally pointless and unhelpful answer!

no, naughty girls! I must not spend any more money! (sneaks off to look online....)

(edited to say I looked and can only see regular and wide fittings - phew! My money is safe - for now...)

I have a pair of long brown leather MT boots, similar to the Mauri. They are OK. The leather is quite thin and they do not look that robust, but I rode in them all last summer and they still look as good as when I got them.

I also have some MT winter long boots and they are amazing. This is the second mud bathed winter I have ridden through, wearing them at least twice a week doing field chores and riding and I wash them off under the hose pipe, staying warm and dry.

Just to confuse; my OH has little skinny legs, and will not have anything but Ariat boots these days.

i have had both winter cook boots and the leather boots
unfortunatly leather ones were too long for my short legs

and the winter ones were comfy and lasted one winter

A friend has just brought some and loves them. I am going to invest in the field boots I think. They look really smart and are very good value for money! Spotted cat has a pair I think!

Spotted cat does, and hers were only £50 - bargain!

However, I also do have very fat calves compared to the size of my feet, so OP you may want to try them on before you order - I usually can't buy off the shelf long leather boots...

also another recommendation for the field boots - lovely and comfy and not had any problems with mine, still looking as good as new!

What about Brogini 2010. I have been fancying a pair of them (but am still dithering !) They retail on their web-site @£150 and have a choice of calf widths.

The £150 broginis are actually really nice, my sister ordered some online and she measured her legs using the measurement chart on the website and they fit perfectly

I have the MT long leather boots, I really like them and the leather is really soft. I did have to go down a size in order to get the right calf fitting though - do have fairly slim calves
