No pics/vids today, sorry- they will be with you very soon......!
Anyway, it was AWESOME!!! I chatted to Mark first and told him the basics, then we warmed up and within 5 seconds he had picked up on my naughty left hand. I have been aware of this problem fr ages but I never knew exactly what was wrong with it or how to fix it so I've just been yielding it more often. Mark got right to the root of the problem and gave me a great way of solving it.
After a few mins where she was going ok but we werent really getting any dramatic improvements, he got on
It was ACE to see Moon ridden by Mark Todd- he made her look teeny tiny but he worked her very patiently for about 15mins, talking me through what he was doing etc all the time. Basically because of my naughty left hand she has fixed on the right and wont take the left contact properly, also she's not quick enough in the hindleg and I've been trying to get her uphill without fully engaging her.
I got back on and the difference was huge- and we managed to keep it and work through some different exercises. He wants me to work her much rounder and quicker off the leg.
By this time it was too late on for a jump so we worked on the medium- he said she had a really nice medium in her. Then we finished and had a little chat- he said we have to forget the competition outline for a couple of months to get the muscle development and then she'll be in exactly the right place to go on. He said that he can see she'll currently do an ok test at 2* but thinks with her overall sharper and clearer, our marks should improve a lot.
Best of all, he said he is happy to give me some more lessons in the future- maybe next time we'll get to jump
His sponsors gave me a huge load of goodies- a brand new HSI crash hat, silk, Mark Todd top and coat, saddlecloth, gloves and lots of horsecare stuff like shampoo and hoof oil. Horse Magazine took tonnes of photos and the article will be published in the next few months- thankyou to them for it all.
