Yes, it was a shame. Next time, hopefully! But our flatwork is the pressing issue really. I'm jumping her with Mark Phillips next week so that'll give me my fix!!

Lucky you! What a fantastic experience.

He is a great teacher, isn't he? It's quite rare for someone that talented as a rider to also be able to also make such improvements in students, often with such simple, precise advice. He did a few clinics for the people I worked for in Canada a couple of years apart and it was really interesting to see how his teaching and training style progressed, not to mention just to have the experience to watch him work up close for three days in a row. He rode just about every horse at least over the course of the clinic and it was amazing not only to see the difference he made but to see how much the riders learned from the improved feel afterwards. The fact that he could do it and talk - not even only about what he was doing on the horse - was the real trick.

(George Morris did the same thing - and he's in his 60s! - but no one here knows who he is so not quite as impressive I guess.

Wow - I have always admired him - he always gets the best out of every horse he rides.

Sadly, me and the old mare have far tooooooo many miles on the clock now to have a lesson with him, but take us back 10 years and we would have both been up for it...so to speak!!

So pleased you had a brill time - How I wish I could've been there......just to watch mind you!

I have tried explaining to Moon how lucky she is- she doesnt really get it, she says he made her work hard!!
It was interesting he used half steps to activate her hindlegs- just expoliting a bit of tension in her walk which worked really well
