Can anyone tell me if you jump in Market Harboroughs?

Thanks

Yep....

Basically a cross between a running martingale and draw reins. If you put them on the right setting they do nothing while the horse has its head in a satisfactory position....if it tries to raise its head too omuch then the horse tends to pull against itself via the rein going down through the bit

Thanks!! So would it help me with a 6 year old who is keen and I have trouble slowing down to balance round the corners - he tends to pull through his neck - he's ridden in a hanging cheek snaffle?!

Thanks

I don't know what you mean by 'pulling through his neck' tbh

I use it on one of mine as he tends to evade by coming up above the bit....but as he has a short neck a running martingale doesn't really work

When he's jumping he gets very keen and I can't always steady him up for the next fence - he gets very low on my hands and sometimes pulls me out the saddle and leans on me.... I've got him in a running martingale but can't say that makes too much difference!

ok thanks - that's why I asked!

More practice on the ol' flat work for me then!

You're bit will be encouraging him to lower his head too

Thats what I was thinking, Ive got my youngster in a drop cheek snaffle and its not much good for jumping, when they tend to drop their head.
I used to use a Market Harborough and a rubber snaffle on him when he was 4 and that worked well, did x-country and show jumping in that.
