Pony has red marks on upper gum, has anyone seem anything similar before? Thought initially due to a bang because of shape, but doesn't seem to be fading much.

Vet has seen them, taken photos and is investigating, had a feel and teeth seem fine, dentist is booked but haven't been speaking to him yet.

I was told by my dentist that some red marks similar to that can be an early sign of eorth. it came up because one of mine has a few little reddish dots so I need to keep an eye on her. how old is the horse?

one of my horses recently had a strange pocket in his gum & was investigated for EOTRH by xrays which was negative
google it & see what you think as looks a possibility

Thanks MP, Bub, he's 19.

ETA: sounds like a possibility, he had a fractured tooth a year ago, with all looking fine at a 6 month checkup, will ask dentist when I'm speaking to him.

good plan either way. My dentist was fairly relaxed about it, she said it might not develop into a problem but to just keep an eye. If it does the treatment sounds drastic but they seem to do well afterwards. be interested in what they say if it's not that, if you don't mind updating?

Dentist was out today, had a look at gum and isn't worried at the moment. Has suggested salt water rinse in case it's related to an infection, and to keep an eye on it and update him if there are any changes. He'll see him again in 6 months time if there's no change, and sooner if needed. I'll update here as well if there are changes.
