My friends mare is 34yrs and her teeth arn't great, she can't eat hay anymore. At the moment she's on readi-grass and fast fibre and looks great but my friend has been advised by local feed supplier to try horsehage instead of readi-grass. I'm not sure she'll be able to eat it as it long strands? Xxx

If she looks great and is well on what she is feeding her then I would stick to that.
I agree...I would have thought Horsehage would be difficult for her to eat if she struggles with normal hay.

My old pony cant cope with hay or any sort of haylage due to teeth. He has Alfa A and Hi Fi as hay replacer. I think your friend should stick to what her mare is on if she looks well.

Our old pony couldn't eat hay and had to have short chop hay replacer - I tried her on Horsehage and she couldn't eat that either! The grasses in it are quite thick and coarse and no finer or softer than hay.

We have exactly the same problem with a thirty one year old stallion. For several years now he has had diastemas compounded by virtually no molars.
He survives on the best possible grazing 24/7 supplimented by feeds of conditioning mix, sugar beet and alfa a.
Whilst he will attempt to eat hay / haylage whatever - it more of a case of him sucking it and ending up with an un masticated ball of fibre which he obviously can't swallow and he ends up spitting it out.
Physically he is bright as a button and only has a bit of arthritis which is managed by him being kept out 24/7.
