Does anyone on here have one ? I think they look gorgeous and am thinking about enquiring. OK they are small but if you upgrade to the 3.9 tonne - that give you room for 1.6 tonnes of horse which would be enough for two fairly large ones - head room is 7'4 I think. Opinions please ? Thanks

We have one, brilliant. My 17.2hh fits nicely, and it carries 2 big ones and still underweight.
I wouldnt advise anyone to buy anything ober 3.5ton unless they have a HGV license. In a year or 2 they will cost just as much to run as a HGV, and will be worthless and hard to sell.

Do you have Hunter model ???? I currently have a 7.5 tonne Ford Cargo which is lovely with huge living, but I would prefer something smaller. I have seen a couple of Marlboroughs and they look divine. Did you buy it directly from Marlborough ??? Is there any living at all ?? It looked to me like they have a wardrobe but nothing else. I only compete locally so I don't really need much living - just someone to hang my jacket and get changed really. Does your horse face backwards ?

Yes I have a Marlborough Hunter Mark II, I have had it 2 years now and still love it! I agree withg vicijp if you uprate it you will not be able to drive it on a standard licence unless you have grandfather rights which could make it tricky to sell on.

Like I mentioned in a previous post, my box is a 2.8 turbo diesel. I took it to the local weighbridge and had it weighed, just had me on board and odds and sods in the tack locker. The gross weight was 2.52 tonnes, therefore I have just under a tonne of horse capacity.

I usually just carry my 16.2 boy but have taken his 15.2 friend with me on short journeys. If I was to go further afield I would double check my weight with both of them on board but I'm pretty sure we should be ok.

If you want to come and have a look at it, pm me.

We had a Marlborough Hunter Mark II as well - only sold it because needed a 7.5 tonne. It was great tho. Travelled two big horses in it and my 17.2 fitted fine - more room than in a 7.5 box - length, breadth and height. They travel backwards and their heads go out over the groom area which is at the very back. The door to the groom bit is at the rear - you go in and there was a sofa seat on the right with storage underneath, then on the left there was a large wardrobe and a tack locker. I event and so have to carry several saddles and lots of gear and it all fitted in fine.
You can drive it on a standard licence which was great. We got it direct from Marlborough - made to specification - they were really helpful. They're not cheap but better quality than the cheaper boxes - ours started everytime and we NEVER had any problems that most people have!

I have this type of box. Mine is the Scott Horse Shuttle one from Northern Horseboxes. Lovely to drive. I just carry my own 16.3 mare though, as she is a heavy hunter!

Yes they face backwards. The living is just 2 seats and a bit of space. You can sort of see it on here.
The Marlborough boxes are expensive beacsue they are 1 of the only 2 makes in the country (along with George Smith), that are underweight when filled.

Yep we had one. Super little box

unfortunately my mare (bally) jumped the back partition and hung off her stifles

Thankfully the back doors were big so she could fit out the back, but it was horrid. She had been in the box for nearly 2 years so it wasnt like she wasnt used to it. She was just a baggage lol
But any of my other horses travelled brilliantly in it

Yes, you can take it out or shift it from side to side for about 12 inches.
BBs, Big Lad jumped out over the big partition, stifle forwards was in the living, back legs were hanging into space. Only thing that saved him doing a somersault was the fact we dont tie to string in the box, but straight to the ring. As it was we doped him, and a few strong vets lifted him over the partition - he walked straight out the back door as if hed done it all his life. All 17.2hh of him!
Was a bit sore for a few days, but no lasting damage. That wasnt travelling though, at a p to p when I took the other horse away. Hence we take him off the box now!

Ive had my Marlborough just over 2 years and im really happy with it. The horses travel really well and the box is very well made and runs beautifully. Can't recommend them enough!!
