Marsh land fields

There is a 3 acre piece of marsh land down the road from where i currently rent my fields and i pass the field everyday to get to mine iv thought of possibly approaching the farmer in the hope he will let me graze it as a overflow field..there is a river running besides it only downside is for 4 months during the winter it floods due to high tide.my question is do i approach and ask or avoid for reasons mentioned above.

I would avoid. It will turn to mush really quickly. I was briefly on livery at a yard who had this sort of grazing, it was a nightmare even in summer

Sorry i forgot to say its had horses on before with no problems and previous to that cattle its quite a dry field only gets wet when it floods which obviously i wouldnt use it then.

Fields like this usually have a liverfluke problem.

There has been no problems concerning liverfluke there all the years iv known stock to be grazed on there

I used to rent 6 acres next door to mine, was allowed to cut my fence and install a gate.
worked really well for 16 years and only gave it up when i cut back on numbers, obviously fence was completely restored.
Could only really use it between May and early October as it went under water through the winter, but gave my paddocks a break and provided good foraging for the youngsters.
I paid a low rent for 11 months of the year so tenancy could be broken and due to it only being summer grazing. Ponies loved the marsh plants, but i never put the horses on it as was quite rough grazing. There is no way I could or would have used it in winter, even in april it was quite boggy.

I would only use it for summer/ autum use as its too wet in summer
