Martin Clunes: Horsepower - ITV 3 - just about to start!

It was fab, stayed up just to watch it, was quite sweet how he was happy to show his feelings and talk openly about how he was jealous of how JFP could work with horses and how happy he was doing join up with Chester.

Tis sad about the mustangs, didn't realise that happened :( Can't wait til next week though! Must addmit, at the end, I just wanted to go and hug Harry and hang out with him, and interact on his terms lol

Thought programme was fab, really really good, just one comment for editor's...The continuity on the bit where Martin was talking to Monty whilst holding his horse...one minute the lead rope is clipped to the underside of the Dually headcollar then in the next shot it's attached to the side, then in the next it's back under the chin and it kept on like this, it must have swapped about five times, made me want to know what else they had been doing with the horse...not in a bad way, just in a nosey way ;0)

I did enjoy it - far too many ad breaks though! Lol. Chester also has THE hugest feet ever!

Wasn't keen on the american lady doing the equine assisted therapy bit though, thought that was a load of rubbish and I don't think really showed how the therapy is actually used ordinarily - or how i understand it is used to help people. JFP is brilliant and the horse's habing their ears back is noit a sign of them being unhappy it can be a sign of many things - it's often a submissive indicator or a dominant one but you have to read the whole body language to tell really.

I thought it was really good! Martin Clunes is very lucky getting to meet all those horses/horsepeople and go to all those different places (I am very jealous!)

I disagree about the horse therapy bit, I definately 'got' it and understood what was going on. Basically she was getting Martin to think about how the horse reacted to him and why and then apply this to how people might act/react around him and what he can do to change this etc.

just watched it now on Sky+ (mum wouldn't have it on last night, she doesn't appreciate the magic of the horse :))

really liked it, though MC trod the line between being a male horse-softy and not looking like a wet dishcloth(!) perfectly, I really took to him. Agree the american psychologist woman was irritating but what she was actually doing seemed really positive. The french guy was amazing.

Makes me miss my pony SOOOOO much - he's out on loan at the moment as I'm tied up with a small baby. Can't wait to go and see him next month though.

Is it me or is Monty Roberts looking old? Looks very thin in the face or has he just lost weight?
Well, he is 75.lol Mind you I think he has lost weight and has been on a 'healthy diet' for a while.

I thought it was a very good programme... more please Mr Clunes.

For those who missed it or live abroad, www.uknova.com is your friend. Its the only way I can keep up with British TV over here (iplayer doesn't work as it only works in the UK). Loved the one the other week with Martin Clunes and his dogs and very much looking forward to watching this one tonight. How many episodes are they doing?

I loved the programme. And OH was rivetted too, even though he'd been banned from watching Terminator III on the other channel!

Agreed about Monty, he did look thin in the face - I hope it's just a part of the ageing process and that's all.

I don't watch a lot of TV, but for once the TV in our house is "booked" by me for an hour for the next episode.

I also noticed this! I guess it was probably only swapped the once but the editing was chopped about maybe?

Didn't know he'd done a prog on dogs too. Went looking for it on ITV player and searched for dogs. Why did Danni Minogue: style queen come up? :D:D:D

Ah ok.. no wonder I couldn't find it - it was on 2 years ago. Poo.

I was tears watching the horses on the beach, I got very emotional, was amazing to watch the French guy (sorry can't remember his name) it was just beautiful.

Martin Clunes is a so the right sort of person to present something like this too.

Can't wait for the next one.

Ladyt25 you're not the first person to make this comment about EAL and as I'm doing some research into it, I wonder if you'd mind telling me how you understand the way it is used to help people? Genuinely interested.

(Comments welcome from everyone!)

I thought that Martin and his horse were adorable together, Chester was a lovely chap. I love it when people discover horses later in life and then fall head over heals in love with them, it's rather moving.

Did find the Pignot bit on the beach fascinating to watch. I don't know anything about his training techniques, but I do wonder exactly how the horses become so subservient.

Some of the commentary was a little fatuous and I noticed that some things were presented as fact when they were really just supposition.

Will definitely watch the next episode though.

Nice to see horses on prime time telly, but I didn't learn anything new. But I do wish the press - in this case S. Times - wouldn't get things wrong: they called MC's horse a stallion.

Really enjoyed it!!!! Yep, I was another one with a lump in my throat and couldn't keep my lot out of my thoughts!!!!

I really enjoyed it too.I do feel SORRY for the Mustangs tho,as goodness knows where they end up when caught and penned.I hate to think!!!!

The horses on the beach,fantastic.

Monty was diagnosed with diabetes (not that long ago I think) and went on a strict diet to lose weight as per doctor's orders. I saw him at Hand EC in 2009 and he told us all about it.

But yes - he is 75. Hang in there Monty!

Thought it was a fantastic program and had enough fact to keep horsey ppl interested and enough show to keep non horsey ppl happy (OH not horsey had to watch second half on iplayer as going out)

I believe the only ppl that will slate this are the "horsey" ppl because the lead rope had moved (horse may have neen taking a dump at the time not good viewing!) etc.
Why when someting positive is on the telly about horses do we all jump on the band wagon because they aren't wearing the correct gear/riding like a pro/using a training method we dont agree with etc.

I would like to see more programs encouraing and embrasing the bond between man and horse/animals instead of the usual soap drivel.

*sorry for rant*

At one of the last demos I went to of his he said then that he had lost weight as he wanted to also promote a healthy lifestyle as well as what he does with the horses.

Recorded it on the Sky+ box and watched it yesterday, I really enjoyed it. Was nice to see someone who clearly loves horses, and was very entertaining too :)

just watched it now, what a lovely horse Chester is and what a fab mix Shire x hanovarian :)
I really liked the arab especially the one that reared up lol!

Also, I wondered if anyone else agreed with what Monty Roberts said about horses having ambition? That they are not lazy animals and they like to be doing things, like cantering across a field with us on their backs.
I like the thought of that, my horse definitely likes being ridden he's such a grumpy sod but as soon as you get on his back and ride him, either schooling or hacking and he is as happy as larry!

the people that have my horse on loan are moving him to a yard that has a round pen and they asked me if they could try join up with him.
I've tried but in a normal arena, he just ran from one end to the next and stood looking at me like I was some sort of mad woman!
