How on earth do you get the martingale stop onto the martingale? I have tried pliers, cutlery and brute force. I have lost the use of my fingers. Help!!

i always put it in hot water for a bit first to soften it

Baling twine. Pass 2 pieces through the stop and stand on one piece of twine and pull on the other (should open the martingale stop enough to allow the maingale to be pulled through it - works for bit rings too).

I had the same trouble, until a friend of mine went to http://www.tackshop.co.uk/
tack shop (also on line) and brought me extra rubbery ones, that go on a treat.. if you can't find them, let me no what colour you want and i'll send you some as they are only a £1 a pair...

had this dilema only this week - it took 2 of us and a hoof pick and brute force!!!

2 peices of bailing twine tied in loops through the ring, heat the ring a little with warm water, attach one loop to a hook or nail, stand on the other and pass the martingale through it no problem.
