Martingale? What is this? Anyone seen/used one?

I've just been browsing forums and came across the same question as I have posed with this picture.

It is described as a training martingale. Has anyone seen or used this before? Just curious that's all. https://janesvictorypass.com/training-martingale.htm

Mmmmm, first time I have seen this type of Martingale, I can see how it works, its almost like a market harbourough and conventional running martingale combined in one. Answers on a post card please.... or just reply to thread.
 
Never seen one like that before - suppose it may act a little like a running martigale - although might be a little more restrictive. (Don't fancy it personally- and it could do with some rubber stops to prevent the rings catching on the bit clips if the neckstrap went forward)

It looks very severe to me, I wouldnt use it. As for the 'desired head setting'...! Sounds like a washing machine setting, horrible way of thinking IMO

. Personally, I hate gadgets (apart from my chambon) and think, that if you cant get the result you want through riding, then maybe you shouldnt be aiming to get it (if you see what I mean) . No offence meant to anyone

looks a horrible gaget.How long before it s in fashion?and the `little knowledge is a dangerous thing` brigade are seen everywhere in it?
 
WOW, that would really restrict upward movement of the horse, plus control from the rider. I also hate the 'desired head carriage' comment - I mean, how ignorant can some people be?

The site is for "Park" Arabs and Gaited horses, isn't it? I've also seem similar contraptions on AQHA horses along with far scarier things.

Seriously, folks, don't ask! You would not BELIEVE some of the stuff the Breed show people get up to. Let's just say they don't have Stewards as their shows . . .

Subject thief, me? Holds hand up, but only those that could be called general interest.

So, Cruiser, what the heck is a "Park" Arab?
Only arabs?
Like a hack/riding horse?
 
But that's part of what I like about the internet - dissemination of information at its most democratic!

"Park" refers to Saddle Seat horses, like the Saddlebreds. I'm not sure if if has an exact definition outside of Arabs but I think it may also be used to differentiate between 3 and 5 gaited horses, with the 3 gaited ones being "Park". (I'm not sure if the 5 gaited ones have their own term - the slang is a "big lick" horse.)

Are there gaited horses in the UK or anywhere else in Europe? We hardly have them here - they seem to be mostly the provenance of the Southern US. William Shatner (Captain Kirk) has some but I believe his, just to confuse things, show in Saddlebred western . . . which is nothing like QH/Paint/Appy western . . .

Arab shows here (well, more in the US) have classes for just about anything you could make an Arab or a part-Arab do. They cross them with QH's to rein, with TB/WBs to jump and do dressage, with Saddlebreds to do Park events (although Saddlebred/Arabs have their own "breed" - the American Show Horse) . . . they also give awards for competeing in open divisions.

I broke some colts for an Arab breeder but his mostly showed Hunt Seat and Western or Arab Dressage so it wasn't basically too far from what I already knew.

I cannot begin to describe Saddle Seat. I'm sure, like everything else, it is hard to do well but it is one of the few areas of horses that holds absolutely no interest for me.
