Martingale

Should I ride with a martingale or not? I jump at home without one but jumped my horse for the first time out without one and although my horse didn't do anything I felt a lot less confident and that reflected on her feeling a lot less confident jumping! Any advice?

I love having a Holy Crap Strap to grab when needed! A loose running martingale or a neck strap will do you right. Even having it there and not using it is a comfort sometimes.

It's funny when things start to go wrong I loop a finger through my neck strap but when sh!t really hits the fan I drop it and pull the buggers head up! ???

As long as it doesn't restrict the horse, use what makes you confident!

If the horse doesn't need one then just use a neck strap for yourself
