So, so sorry to hear the news from EE. Have always loved watching Mary & Cavvy & stayed up all night to see them live XC at Beijing Olympics. A partnership that gave so much enjoyment to all. My thoughts are with all concerned x

they were amazing in the dressage and showjumping.it was my dream to see mary and cavvy compete and it came true only for the worst thing ive seen in my life unfold in frount of me.i want to wish mary my deepest sympathy it was a tragedy.

What beautiful pictures, was too upset to post yesterday and still can't believe it today.
My heart goes out to Mary, such an inspirational lady, like many have a real soft spot for Mary. I hope her pain is short lived and we'll all see her usual warm smile again soon. Sympathies to Mary and all her connections at this sad time.
Call Again Cavalier, what a horse, what a partnership, taken too soon like so many others. Rest in peace and I'm sure you were met by the friendly face of another special lady.
I've only just found out and am so upset. Its a struggle to focus on work now. Poor Cavvy and what a terrible thing to happen to such a wonderful horse.
My thoughts are with Mary and his owners.
Just saw the news, how sad, poor horse and poor Mary, she seems the most wonderful and caring rider it must be so sad for her, the owners, the groom...
Was there with friends and it was a horrid fall - the horse had gone really well up to that fence unlike most of the others. Poor, poor Mary and her owners, I can't imagine how they feel today.
Don't worry BrandyButterDragon so was I. My thoughts go out to Mary at such a sad time. Frankie (my piebald) would like to send Mary nuzzles and neighs and hopes Cavvy will RIP.
RIP cavvy you will always be remembered babe
i kind of know the owners so i can't imagine what they must be feeling as they also lost one of thier showjumpers in april
My first memories of him were back in 01 at Saumur when he came charging through the finish with Vicky complete with a bleeding nose due to his exuberant jump XC.

lovely pics. thankyou.
i looked at the others and tbh he is standing there calmly, the adrenalin would probably have meant that he wasn't in pain.
(i found a friend's horse in the field years ago with a broken back leg and it happily stood there munching hay while i rang the vet etc. i looked into its eyes and they showed no distress or worry at all.) it is very easy to anthropomorphise horses too much, especially in such a situation.
RIP wonderful Cavvy.

I understand this - I have seen a pony with two broken legs try to canter away
he just couldn't feel the pain because he was high on adrenaline!! It's just so upsetting to see a horse in that state.
I haven't been able to stop thinking about this all day. Such a shame and a real loss of a beautiful and talented athlete. He'll be missed by many. My thoughts to Mary and those connected.
All I can say is not to think of that awful moment but remember the wonderful 16 years he enjoyed.
RIP Cavvy
This is myfirst time using this forum - I do so as I wanted to read the comments and thoughts re Mary & Cavi. I have been lucky enough to have met Mary on a few occasions when she was riding her great King William. She is the most wonderful inspiration, her ability to get up and dust herself down is just amazing, a truely lovely lady. My heart felt thoughts are with her and all concerned....my two year old son will miss Cavi he cheered him & Mary her on very loudly in Hong Kong. For Cavi - good night god bless and when we hear the thunder in the sky we'll no it's you and all the other loved horses galloping freely....xxxxxxxxxxxx
