Does anyone else get the feeling that tina cook is a bit bitter towards mary getting the ride on cavvy? When she went XC tina was really rather outspoken saying how she got the horse at 4* so didn't have to do any work so is just reaping the benefits and then in the showjumping she said "reaping the benefits of someone elses hard work". It's all she was saying about her!
Mary did fantastically on him and thoroughly deserves her medal!

I'm not sure that is the case - I think she was just making the point that Vicky did the ground work.

Maybe but she didn't just mention it in passing - yesterday in the XC she made quite a big thing of it and said quite a few things that although were factual were a bit iffy - and then mentioned it again today. Plus she hasn't gone into the background of who brought on all the other horses? I just got the feeling she was making a thing of it

I agree too G_I i think she made to much of a point of it, and it sounded like she was saying Mary just had to 'passenger' the horse and not do anything!

didnt see the interview but fair play as usual to mary if she has put credit where its due. Vicky brake is a dead good jock and deserves the recognition for getting the horse to four star level. she trains them beautifully on the flat so all mary had to deal with was the horses dodgy temper but that does seem to improb=ved as one might hope as he got older. and lets not forget both she and the owners of cavvy have just bought imperial cavelier that looked like a champ the first time i judged Vicky on him as pre novice and i have had no reason to change my opinion since. So mary will be thanking vicky again and wouldnt have done it the first time if she thought it was going to be an effort to get that one to the top also.
i feel for vicky, though you cant turn down that sort of cash as she always thought cavvy was a superstar but she was told she would have to win badminton to have any chance of getting on a team so selling him seemed a good move.

That doesn't take away what Mary has done with him though. I'm not saying vicky shouldn't get recognition for producing him well - but the way tina was going on about it she sounded very bitter and critical of Mary - and i'm glad i'm not the only one who noticed it thought I was going mad!

All I heard Tina say today was "Beautifully produced by Vicky Brake" - not at all bitter, but just ensuring that people knew Vicky's name - nothing wrong or bitter about that

.... but she did also make comments about (if I remember rightly) "getting all the glory" that seemed a bit...erm... well, unnecessary!

Not like Mary got the silver this weekend "effortlessly"

I think VB buys most of her youngsters from Donal Barnwell so I would not feel so sorry for her!! They are not cheap! Everytime I see her competing her horses are a class above everyone elses so I expect she has quite a few nice ones coming on in the background. She has produced loads of good horses and then sold them on.
