Bit of a random one. But does anyone know anything about Mary Leonard’s riding school in Limerick?

A very old friend has got in touch, he moved back to Ireland about 8 years ago, parents have a stack of land so they got themselves a cob, geese and a few goats. The cob was broken in, has done very little aside from hack around the roads, a few xc jumps and generally had a quiet life. Said cob has gone for schooling livery with Mary, and has suddenly become difficult. I have advised friend to check on all normal bits, saddle, teeth, back etc. I don’t think the saddle fits so I’ve advised that needs looking at immediately, but said friend is unsure that they have put the cob in the right place. As I have no info, I’m reaching out to HHO. I have advised that friend gets a good pro in to have a look and give advice, but thought it was worth an ask here to see if there were any red flags to be aware of.

In Newcastle West? Yes. All the Leonards are fantastic horse people, very well known. Produce many horses for the RDS etc.
Your friend could not get any more professional or better people to be dealing with their horse.

Nooo, I had it as a limerick (with magical properties) that the students at Mary Leonard's riding school chanted in unison as they bounced round a XC course or something!

I'm sorry I have no information good or bad on Mary Leonard, but if your friend would like to consider someone else for some schooling then I'd recommend he have a chat with Clonshire in Adare. Very highly recommended in the area and an absolutely amazing facility. I'm getting a bit nostalgic now, it's where I learned to ride as a kid.

Oh that's a shame, I know a few people who still go there and have great things to say. Sad to hear it might have issues.

I have been there (clonshire) a good few times, usually for competitions and to hire the xc. I have only heard good things about it and personally found the owners very helpful.
