Hi,

Was wondering if anyone had ever had any experience with an internal mass inside their horse near their spleen?

It seems to be quite a medical mystery at one stage grew to 28cm but has since shrunk to 20cm. It has also appeared to have caused colitis and several bouts of colic. Would love to hear from someone who has experienced something similar.

The only thing that springs to mind is Splenic entrapment when the gut gets trapped between the horses stomach wall and the spleen and causes a mild to medium colic which is life threatening if treatment is not given.

Shrinking the spleen by injecting the horse with a drug usually works. Is this what you are getting mixed up with or is this scenario that you speak about in respect of your horse?

Thanks for your reply. It appears as a growth has grown of her spleen and has fallen off. The vets I have had haven't dealt with something like this before its a bit of an odd case. We are thinking perhaps an abcess or a cyst.

Oh, I see. Oh gosh how strange. Sorry I have no idea, but wish you all the best x

Some one posted on a site a couple of weeks ago , these are some thing I had never seen or heard of , and have come to mind as you said internal mass , and colic . Google EQUINE ENTEROLITHS, found in horses in America France and the U K.
