took mono to great bookham equestrian center yesterday and won both our classes yay
she was quite a handful to start with as all she had really done for the last couple of year is hunt to in the warm up she kept trying to overtake to the front of every other horse (hmm a bit impossible as we are all going round in circles silly horse)
riding horse which qualifies us for balanced championship show went well she finally settled and went round the ring beautifully even showing a nice extended trot on the change of rein and a brilliant gallop. we got pulled in forth but didnt get to the line quick enough so ended up down the bottom grrr bad manners. when the judge came to ride her she was a champ light in the hand with power and impulsion he loved her. she stood up well and trotted out nice and straight for the confo and paces judging. she was fab hooray.
veterans which qualifies us for the regionals if we do well in that then its off to olympia (i can dream lol) went really well apart from she had hung around for the best part of the day and was getting a bit grumpy which is fair enough hayladge net or not. so i gave her a fair amount to think about when i worked her in such as some lateral work and lots of transitions and rein backs to get her mind thinking about what she was doing then i walked and soothed her for a while to try and get her relaxed as she can get quite tense.
she went round really well but started to gnash her teeth in time to her trot which she does when tense but managed to snap her out of it with a tap on the neck and releasing all contact on the reins (good job she has self carriage). for our show piece i did a figure of 8 in trot then canter with a simple change in walk on to a direct transition to halt rein back then trot with an extension and another lovely square halt in front of the judge.
GOOD GIRLY MON MON
she got so many treats such a clever girl so proud of her hooray so many compliments. one girl who does a lot of showing professionally said i should try ladies hunter side saddle and we would prob end up at hoys guess i can dream
