I have a Masta checktech NZ 7oz, i bought it last year and its had very little use, i got it out popped it on my mare and i noticed all the filling has dissapeared one side, i dont mean it has a hole or anything its just all moved so the rug in the middle near her flanks has no filling its more like a rain sheet?? i did not turn her out in it, i have been and bought her another rug instead. But after thinking about it what would you do?? complain or just put it down to one of those things??

Have you tried (with the help of one or two extra bodies if necessary depending on how big it is) getting hold of the side where the filling still is and giving it a really good shake? I haven't had this happen with a masta rug, but I have had this happen a couple times with a Fal Pro rug I have.

It's not a common problem with Mastas, but it does sound as if this one is faulty.

they must just send faulty ones to our county then... I know of several big yards round here that refuse to use them any more, because they leak.

What have you done to upset them then?

Seriously, they were one of the most popular rugs in our shop and we rarely had returns or complaints. I have had loads of them myself and never had one leak or the inner move either.

lol, our tackshop had lots of returns, and the area rep even admitted there was a problem with them!! My last one was a check tech last year, which the filling went on and leaked, I don't know what they're like since then.

Must admit all the mastas i have ever brought have always been rubbish, always start leaking within a short period of time, slip and leave rub marks not impressed with them at all but do seem popular with some people.

The vast majority of my rugs are mastas and I have not had a problem with them at all. I have not had a problem like this at all - but maybe I have been lucky!

I just pulled out a rug that must be well over 10 years old to use on my new horse (until his nice shiny new masta arrives) and it still a good rug - keeps him warm and dry for the time being. I'm not sure how waterproof it is now - but it has been used a lot in its life time.

I have just ordered 2 new mastas for my guys - much prefer them to a lot of the other rugs that have never lasted as long in my experience.

Ditto, I love my Mastas and have never really had a problem with them. The only small problem I've had is that a year or two ago they changed the pattern of the lightweight rug and the fit wasn't so good, but when I tried a smaller size it fitted well again. Never had one leak or rub and they are all I buy now. It surprises me to hear so much negativity as I love mine!

I have several Masta rugs of varying weights and have never ever had a problem with them, one of them (a heavyweight deluxe) is around 5 years old now and still performing well and the others are mainly check techs, although granted 3 of them are lightweights so no filling, but I also have a middleweight and that is fine too - maybe you were just unlucky
