Hi i bought my boy a new Masta high neck medium weight y'day as he broke the clip on his old rug, its a lovely rug but not the best fit round his chest. For the last 9yrs i have bought the same size and all his rugs have always fitted like a glove but this ones doesnt seem to give much room in the chest, just wandered if anybody else had experienced this with these rugs?

I had to stop using them a couple of years back as they nearly strangled my horse because the buckles were too high up. She couldn't get her head down to eat. Had previously used them for over ten years!

Thank you ive never had problems with rugs before so thought it was just me being fussy, will be purchasing a new one then before it starts rubbing or anything. Would rather have him in comfort :)

The present day Masta rugs are rubbish and our saddlery shop stopped selling them because so many people returned them as they did not fit. I bought one a couple of years ago and it slipped righr back behind my mare's withers once I had turned her out. They are just not cut right and the company dont want to know when you challenge them about it.

I don't know about that specific masta rug but all the ones i have had from them including some new ones this year all fitted well and have far out lasted all the other rugs. They are always my first choice of rug as well.

had the same problem.....admittedly it was about three years ago, but not tried one since because they just dont fit around the chest. I now use weatherbeeta or horseware ones which fit perfectly.

oh heck !!!!

I have just bought one for my wee mare as her main rug for the winter.

The one i bought is the: Zing Heavy (340g) turnout fixed neck check.

Anybody had any problems with the above ??

Xxx

I'm really not a fan these days, which is a shame as I always used to buy them.

They are generally too big around the shoulders and v poor quality, IMO.

The last one that I bought was only a LW for Spring showers and fell apart in no time at all - and my horse is not a rug wrecker.

These days I only ever buy Rambo or Rhino. :)

I agree Mark Todd are my favourite, ive got a L/W which is fab and bought a H/W which i cannot wait to get on him. But i had to get a M/W quickly as he had broken his and so the masta one it was which i will not be getting again, think i will be sticking to Mark Todd in future :)

I agree the turnout rugs are rubbish  But still think the Masta stable rugs are good quality - i like the Regal Heavy Jaquard Stable rug and think it fits well.

My fav brand though is Mark Todd turnout rugs

What's everyone else's favourite? x

I had LW fixed neck Mark Todd turnouts, seemed to fit all shapes of horse well (we have from cob to light Tb!), was really really pleased with them. However after only 1 year of fairly light use they were leaking, one we reproofed twice(!) and it still leaked (and not just a bit, think, fairly light shower and bring in wet pony :() They were only 600D and will now never buy anything less that 800D pref 1200D atleast if possible and won't be buying Mark Todd turnouts again.

Still love the Mark Todd HW stable rugs though :) , they seem to fit very well.
