Anyone have any opinions on them? Or info? Are they particularly quirky etc.?

Thank you

Have never heard of a lazy one put it like that. I think they are fairly sharp.
Most over here seem to be ridden by pro's, whether this is because they need to be ridden by pro's, or just because they are a fairly safe bet for a 'bring on and sell to UK or US for big bucks' type I really don't know.

Only ever known one Master Imp eventer on our yard, he certainly wasnt a novice ride but he wasnt quirky either if that makes sense? Went to a young lad to do JRN on... hmmm, off to find the BE record now if I can, havent thought about that horse for years

ETS - OMG the horse is dead

But a couple of seasons doing JRN very successfully for the boy who bought him.

I only have personal experience of one, that is Oli Townends Stallion Hollins Hall. He was the sweetest and kindest horse to deal with as a 4yo, he was easy on the flat and v smart over a fence. Oli thinks v highly of him and at his 1st event he won with a 22 dressage.

a friend had one that was very very sharp. at the lecture/demo WFP said that although Mary has done brilliantly with her 2, he isn't so keen on them... i can't remember why though!
just remembered - i tried one and he was lovely, felt very straightforward on the flat and to a fence, unfortunately failed the vet but i was very keen on him.

How on earth did you do that lec - please tell

Not the BE or the EI site, somewhere in the terminally confusing FEI website perhaps???

I would love to be able to do that search for my beasties

Yep, and one of few horses to win a section when reportedly missing out a fence

Its all on the BE website under breeding. He was No1 stallion for progeny aged 6&7yo and then in top 10 for other progeny. I find breeding fascinating especially if particular progeny from a stallion is doing really well.

I have a gelding my Master Imp out of a Clover Hill/ King of Diamonds mare

Had lots of "issues" as a late 4/5 year old, he was very quirky and quite sharp! As a now 7 year old he is Mr Chilled.

Isnt it the same for Clover Hill horses?? I knew someone who had a clover hill mare, god that was quirky to say the least.

My instructors has one, was very sharp when she first got him, but has come on leaps and bounds. He can still be quirky, but jumps like a stag!

I have two full brothers out of a King of Diamonds mare and I adore them - they are talented, clever horses, as is the full sister. But they need handling with care. When I bought the younger brother the seller sat me down and told me how to handle a Master Imp. It has to be based on real trust - get after them and they will fight you until hell freezes over. Get them on your side and they will try to jump the moon for you. I would fill my stables with them if I could!
