Anyone got a set? My Liveryman Arena have died, I paid £350 for them 7 years ago, regularly serviced, well looked after (always cleaned, not overheated) and they are going to cost me £180 to repair them. Am not impressed.

So, I don't really want to spend much on my next set, have seen these:

My YO charges £50 a clip (she won't allow anyone else on the yard to do it) and I clip my boy about 3/4 times a year. So my thinking is the Masterclip would pay for themselves after the first year.

Just a bit nervous that they may be rubbish.
 
The ones you illustrate take Lister UK style blades and I will say one thing. Over the years I have developed a hatred of absolutely crap Chinese clippers, BUT I will say,they are getting better. In the beginning, many of the Chinese machines were copies of the Heinigar style of clipper with blades made from melted down recycled T34 Tanks. However.they are improving and it is sadly the major clipper companies that have lead this rise in quality. We used to have a good selection of clipper companies who manufactured their own machines, either like Lister UK in Dursley or Heinigar in Switzerland. You paid your money,you took your choice, but they were well made with blades from virgin quality steel, made to tolerance levels which meant they cut and held an edge.Other manufacturers, gave the impression they were "British Brands" but the only thing made in the UK was the sticker with the Union Jack on it. Some purchased machines made in Germany and re sold them. Others also sold Chinese machines. In my original opinion,I would not have bought a Masterclip if you paid me, but if you take a close look at the V Series on their site,compare them to the Liveryman Black Beauty. Look similar???? From the same factory in China. The one you illustrate,I believe again comes from the same firm in China that makes the V series. Both impressed me when I first saw them, so maybe the Chinese have finally started to hit the spot. The copy Lister blades on the machine illustrated where also pretty well made. So maybe now, you have more choice for your buck. You can purchase a branded machine with a two year warranty,that will go bang in 3 years or maybe for less buy a Chinese one with the same warranty for less. The gamble is starting to get better.
 
I have the Masterclip Roamers heavy duty battery clippers and love them. Cost me £200 with 2 year guarantee and came with 2 battery packs included. I can clip two hairies and half a Shetland on one battery. I did have a problem with one of the spare blades but masterclip replaced it without quibble.
 
I always used to say to my customers, if you buy a set of clippers that take Heinigar type blades, buy a genuine set of blades and they will clip better. I have not heard much feedback on the Masterclip/Lister type blades, but the Liveryman Black Beauty/Wolseley ones were not that bad. So it will be interesting to see how this range of machines progresses. The Chinese supplier of these type of machines, did seem much more knowledgeable in the field than some of the earlier firms that made machines, so it may be the dawn of an era where some Chinese machines have improved drastically. All that we need know is for the crap ones to disappear.
 
I wouldn't buy any other clipper other than heiniger had mine 15 years and they are still like the day I bought them, have helped other people clip with other machines and nothing compares to them in my opinion.
 
My last clippers were Masterclip, I used Lister blades on them, they clipped well. However they only lasted a few years so I went back to Lister clippers.

Most are made in China with a company sticker to hide the fact!
There is not much to fault the Chinese on the quality of their technology and expertise these days although it pains me to say it.
They lead the way with the majority of manufacturing and I wouldn't swap my cheap Chinese clippers for a Heiniger or any other expensive make! They do the job admirably and as you say if they go bang in a couple of years I am quids in, just two professional paid clips have paid for them and still going strong after 4 years of many clips!
 
I am happy with my Masterclip roamers, I don’t have a hairy cob and only do an Irish clip twice a year but I have had them for two years now and they are still perfect.
 
I'm 7 years in with Rangers and still going strong. I did swap the blades to Heinigers as the Masterclip ones didn't sharpen up very well.
 
I bought a pair of Wolseley Swift mains clippers brand new about 23 years ago & they are still going well & do a good job of clipping the 3 horses I now have. I believe they are no longer made so if they break down I may have to replace them. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I have heard good reports of Heiniger Xplorer cordless so mmay be go for them. I don;t believe in buying very cheap clippers as I doubt if they will last long.
