Maths question for you all

i requested, from 2 different suppliers, the level of herbal substance actually in a 20ml dose of their product.
i got 2 differenent replies : A) 300mg per 20ml dose. B) 7ml per 20ml dose.
can anyone tell me which has the stronger herbal dose ?

we have spent ages trying to convert mg into ml but it seems 'density' has beaten us !!

umm, surely it depends on the concentration in the liquid, so i think it's unanswerable, isn't it?
you could ask the first firm how many ml per 20ml dose.
otherwise i think it's like asking how many tennis balls can you get in a dustbin full of water...

It depends on the substance. Every substance will have a different weight to volume conversion factor.

If you know the density, or specific gravity, you can.

Milliliters into Grams: Multiply the specific gravity of the substance by the number of milliliters, to obtain the weight in grams.

Yeah I don't think you can do it without knowing the specific density of the material in question.

The first one equates to 15 grammes per litre of solution but without the density of the material I don't think you can work out a similar thing for the 2nd quote - can you not get back to them and ask for it as a percentage or something?

thats the conclusion we came up with, the density thing, i have emailed one of them back. will let you know what the reply is.

Specific means per unit volume, so "specific density" would mean "density density".

Maby food substances have a similair density to water (1000 kg/m3).

If you have the product you can weigh it and then work out the desity etc.etc
