Hi all

We went to Mattingley today for day before dressage, I am only doing dressage and SJ as after Aston where I retired XC as she was not going anywhere I had her blood tested and the red, PCV and hemoglobin are low so on speaking with vet no XC for two weeks and she is now on a racing supplement to get her fighting fit.

Well arrived to loads of posh lorries, Pippa one up from me and so on, but hey ho can only do our best.
I thought our test was not too bad, nothing glaring just safe

Well it scored 45.7

might as well give up as not getting any better.

Going back for SJ only tomorrow as close'ish to home

For those competing the going is fantastic and looks beautiful as usual, just wish I could go XC, will have to wait for Great Tew

Elles and I are doing the SJ ring Sun morn so please say hello

Not to bad a score, can't see the test atm but will when i'm home!
do you know how everyone else did in your section compared to you|?

well done, nice test, the commentary made me smile! perfect square halt!
ahh i'm showjumping on sunday morning, can i request blue tack on the cups?!

Know how you feel, my mare has been fab lately in the dressage, nothing spectacular as have played safe but nice neat tests and my scores have been disapointing. It really has got me down. Just keep plugging at it I say...

I'm doing the same test tomorrow and I really dislike 120! I hate having to walk before I've cantered, and the first canter is on our bad rein.. Pah! I think, from the video, you did a better test than a 45.7 score suggests. A sub 40 for us is good so I'll be interested to see what we score tomorrow as your test looked very similar to one of ours.. Good luck for the SJ and keep working on it!

Thankies will keep at it, trouble is over the last two years she has been a cow sometimes in the dressage and have had better scores, am not giving up yet but might change my name to something like "Sapphia L'e gay" sounds posh

Right clare we need a plan of action - first of all like what your saying about changing safs name ! Secondly we need to get you a double barreled name, clare weston smyth or something ! - im changing mine to savarge ! and dropping the H on sarah !
Dont worry - I would love me and boobie head to be ale to do a test like you ! im sure you'll get a good score when you take boobie pre novice !

Saf, what happens if you shorten your reins? Not being critical, just an observation. Fantastic halt by the way and good rhythm but I just wonder if the contact might improve a bit if you shortened your reins? Hard to say without knowing you and your horse-feel free to tell me to shut up!

PUSSY WILSON ! Brilliant - lets use that !
Im Cherry May ! So it would be Cherry May riding Boobie Head !
"And I wonder why he dumped me"

Hey I asked for comments and its always great to have ideas, usually she is to tense to shorten any more and gets really tight just infront of the saddle, but today as she was calmer yes agree looks like shorter would have been better.
She comes out different every test, the joys of mares.
Thankies and never worry about suggesting things with me or I would not post

Looked like quite a nice test -good rhythm, transitions, v nice walk. She wasn't quite consistent in the contact though (I always notice that as it is a problem that I have with my mare where she drops off my leg). Could it be that if she is not quite feeling at herself that she wasn't working from behind, hence the inconsistent contact and the low mark. I would have thought it was more like a 38 ish sort of test, definitely a bit harshly marked.

If her blood results improve, hopefully you will get a much better test next time.

Fiona

I thought that was fairly hardly marked but was that just the overall marking of the judge? What was the leader on? I would have expected you to be on around 40 with that.
To me she really didn't seem to be truely working from behind into a steady contact, have you had her teeth checked recently?
And easy to say from behind a computer screen having never met her but I reckon you could be a bit braver with the canter and ask more from her.

Anyway, sod the dressage ... enjoy the jumping tomorrow

You know, knowing Saf that was actually quite quiet for her.
Yeah she is tense, but then Saf is really only there for the jumping bit

Your dad had me in stitches.... *we need a good stop*

Looks like a super grass covering there, and doesnt look too wet.

See you sunday, im sjing just before 3pm.

Good luck with sjing today, and I look forward to seeing you both in action at Great Tew.
Glad to hear that saf is on the mend.

Thanks F
The inconsistant contact has always been a problem and one I have yet to get to the bottom of.
Really hoping we can turn things round soon, dad was really disapointed and it hurts he when hes unhappy
frown.gif

Just got to get Saf to eat this darn supplement now

Hi B&J

Had teeth done 2 weeks ago, had a lot done, but contact has always been an issue, usually as she is so tense I do the wrong thing by taking leg of and praying
blush.gif
Know its the wrong thing to do but I am getting better
smile.gif

Agree with the canter I was playing safe

Thanks for comments very much appreciated

I feel your pain. I ride a lot of my rounds hoping that i can come back with something good to say to dad.
If i dont i feel really bad, i hate seeing him disappointed, hes disappointed because of hes knows how hard I work with my horses and i think your dad is the same?

How did today go?

What supplement has she been given?

Hi V

Dad always makes me laugh, he wants her do do well so much I always feel the pressure.
Ground is fantastic, i did nearly get stuck going in the wrong gate
blush.gif
but as long as no more rain the car park will stand up. Saf had a huge grass fest before we left.

Did not go back this morning, thought with the low bloods two days travelling not good so quiet week then have to sort out schooling before Great Tew

Will see you sunday,
grin.gif

Can't remember the spelling but something like "Tweedles racing or Twydles racing" stacked with all the B vits and just about everything I could think of, god knows how much it cost as did not dare ask the vet
blush.gif

See you sunday.

Will also see you sunday at Great Tew as im stewarding lol

Prob best not ask vet how much supplement is lol

I think you prob did the right thing not jumping her if shes got a low count. She will be back for GT full of running
smile.gif

Hi Saf,

Haven't been able to watch your test but at least you got a badly marked one at an event where you're not going xc. Always best to save the generously marked ones for the times when the jumping goes to plan
wink.gif

You must be slightly relieved that her bloods were a bit off aren't you? It explains Aston and it's great that it should only take a couple of weeks to get right.

Hope your sj went ok. May see you at Great Tew then.

Hi LR

Yes always nice to have explaination, at least I know my horse so that makes me feel better.
grin.gif

Did not SJ in the end gave her a quiet day thought better of travelling two days running, its just hard having days off and no parties to go to
grin.gif

Hope to see you at Great Tew
