OK, so I know it's early in the year but I'm just starting to plan my diary for the season and wondered if anybody had any "inside" information on whether Mattingley is likely to be running again. No real reason it shouldn't be but I know a couple of years ago its future was a bit uncertain.

I'm on the helpers list and haven't had anything as yet, I expect it will be in the next month or so if they are running again this year. I certainly hope they are!

Ooohh I do hope they are running - I am determined to get round the XC in the time this year! Not sure why but it's the only place I didn't manage it in the time last year. (Also, a dressage under 50 would be nice too lol).

I hope it's on! Nikki_Duffin, I did it last year as my first BE90 level event having done a few unnaffil local ones at 3ft, it was a bit bigger than what I was used to (some of the fences are bigger than 90cm as BE rules allow up to 20cm extra of brush on top), but managed to get round clear anyway, definately enjoyed it loads and was very educational for myself and my horse, feels more like a proper event than most unnaffiliated ones.

Edited to add; think it was in May last year then again at end of June?

i enjoyed this last year and went on both occasions it was running!
Bl*ody hard to get in the time! I didnt the first time and was determined the second time which involved a fast pace the whole way round and cutting corners where possible and jumping a few jumps on an angle!!! Ok and a more experianced horse, maybe not so much on a youngsters hahah :)

agree wish they would hurry up with the date (as with BE and the official days for BE events/classes) some of us have to book holiday!

Hot off the press: Mattingley will be running unaffiliated on Sunday 9th June (maybe another July/August). Also.... they are running BE Novice, BE100 & BE100Open on 7th and 8th June.

Yaay, thank you for letting us know..that is good news, hoping to do the 90cm and get round within the time .. last event the time was VERY tight :-))

I've just googled looking for a schedule but not found anything. Does anyone know where I should be looking?

I am thinking of aiming for the unaff - hopefully an 80 if they are running one.....

Will be my first year even contemplating BE so thought I'd stick to a few unaff to start with. :)

I don't think the schedule is out yet, they said it would appear on BD when its ready :) From what I understand they are only running an unaf 90 nothing else, but may have got that wrong.

Hi Clarew22, how you and your lovely horse doing ?
would be a shame if they are only doing the 90 this year- was hoping to enter my daughter in the 80cm, but I am hoping to go to the Mattingley 90 UA in June , might see you there! :-)

We are both good thank you, fed up with winter but its almost spring, well thats what I keep telling myself! Hope you and your boy are doing well :)

Its a bit strange as I had an email from another organisation saying there is going to be new horse trials in 2014 at Farley but for this year they are running it at Mattingley, in June they are definately only running the unaff on the 9th and I had an email from Mattingley when I asked about dates saying unaf 90 on Sunday no mention of anything else.

Hopefully they will do one of their normal two days unaff later in the year as know a few people looking forward to doing the 80 there, and its still being mentioned on Tweseldown as part of the Unaff Champs so would think they must run a full weekend at some point

Its also unfortuanate that it's the week before BCA Horse Trials and I don't normally run two weekends in the row so not sure what to do as love both events!

Glad you are well, yes we are both fine, but, like you ,fed up with winter and MUD ..but..hey ho spring is on its way, or at least that is what i keep telling myself!! LOL

OK, thanks for the info, will be interesting to see what events do run then, will put June in my diary for Mattingley :-))

BCA sounds fun, I have heard it is a fab place to go, is this just for BE though or Unaf as well??

I am sure you would be fine if it is just two events in a row not all the time
be a shame to miss out :-))

BCA dont do unaffiliated but the BE is a nice course. I think mattingley is nicer though. I'll probably aim to do both as dont mind running consecutive weeks now and then.

Agree Mattingley is a nicer course, its a bit more varied :) But if you can get in at BCA on a day ticket its a nice event to do Monte1 :D

I hope to do both, but not going to worry too much at the moment as June is a long way off, and as BCA's June event was cancelled last year due to rain who knows what will happen!

Hi there, I am one of the co-organsiers of Mattingley this year, working with Richard Clapham's tried and tested team. We are running at Mattingley affiliated for one year only, on 7-8th June, with unaffiliated on the Sunday. Classes will include BE100, BE100Open, Novice and the Special Star IN which was so popular in Mattingley's heyday. In 2014 we are hoping to move the event to a new site at Farley Estate, hopefully working with many of the same Mattingley team. I am part of this process. The site has been visited by BE but do not have confirmed dates yet. We may stick with the June dates, or we may get different dates, as the 2014 calendar has not been confirmed.

The schedule for Mattingley is just about complete and will be on BE soon!

Let the event secretary know if you want to come and help :-)

Hi Natalie,

It's such great news to see Mattingley back on the BE calendar - it was always one of my favourites :)

I will definitely be aiming for the special star - such a great idea! Do you know if the dressage scoring with be done with the FEI coefficient? And will we be able to don our top hat and tails?!

Really looking forward to it. I am likely to be competing both days otherwise I would have loved to have helped out - will see if I have any willing friends!

I will confirm the scoring system. Unfortunately I believe BE have binned the top hat and tails for one-star to make it more inclusive! I had these on my wish-list for Christmas but had to shelve it until I'm ready for a two-star now!

Just received an email from Mattingley with a schedule for a full unaffiliated event on 27th & 28th July for those wanting to do the 80cm :)
