Having washed yesterday’s culinary misadventure off the dog beds this morning I think I need a topper that the whole thing can go in the wash, not just the cover.
HiK9 ones are just way too expensive. I don’t just want a blanket, I want a bit of padding as well. These look like they’d fit in a 9kg machine? And they don’t say removable cover. (Which is good).
Any thoughts or recommendations?
Thank you
.

I have these... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08NC3ZLCN?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_4&th=1

They are really thick and supportive. I've had one set for over 2 years and the night time one (one massive one) for about a year.

The whole top and sides zip off to wash. The mattress has an eggbox side and a flat side, and is in plastic, so wipe clean. They wash well.

This was the bigger one...

I think they are really good value. I hate beds where you can feel the hard floor through them and you can't with these.

Is it to go on a raised bed @Clodagh ?

I find anything too thick becomes likely to slip off/makes the step up too high. We had several similar to this
Fleece mattress pad

Which went on top of the amazon basics raised bed and provided enough cushioning for a very princess and the pea hound. They washed well and you could add elastic like the k9 topper if you wanted to. They don't have exactly the same ones any more, but it might be worth a punt?

They share beds so they have too much ‘edge’ but thank you.

They are, yes. This is the current set up. While the brown covers washed and dried I put the fleece direct on the hammock. Cue sad face and they lay on the slate floor. 🤦‍♀️

Those fleecy things you linked look ok, thank you. I’ll order a couple and see.

The fleece pads are probably 1/3rd to 1/2 the thickness of your brown bed

Not sure how big you need but these look reasonably priced and nice and squishy

Dog mattress

Still the separate cover issue, but I find the bobble non slip side like the ones in your first post shreds quite quickly over time if they're washed often (though haven't had those specific ones)

Hope you manage to find something to keep them comfy!

How about getting waterproof cot/bed sheets? We bought one when the big dog was (briefly before being pts) incontinent. He was unaware and it meant we could just change it and wash the cover/sheet. You could buy foam/memory foam and cut to size? I assume you can get adult size.

We used to use Vetbed on top of our HiK9, it would help but not completely stop accident getting through. We didn't have that worry luckily.
It’s not really for absorbency, just for comfort. They are a bit princess like. I don’t think they would consider vet bed up to their exacting standards 🙄😄

Our bed was the biggest one, and the Danish Designs mattresses fitted just inside the bars perfectly. The vet bed was on top of those but mostly we just had rh mattresses, they have removable washable covers.

Probably what you were trying to avoid (having re-read your initial post) but I think trying to find the perfect in between thickness, to be able to wash the whole thing, could be tricky, might be interested much further down the line if we get another dog, if you find the answer!

I expect I’ll just bumble on with what we’ve got for now.
But a friend said she had an old duvet and cut it up into correct size chunks and had a local person sew up the edges and make covers and she washes that. When I’m organised I think I’ll do that.

Ours have a memory foam topper in a single duvet cover. I don’t know why but Goose prefers to fold this over and square himself into the resultant space so ‘only’ has the several inches of foam bed. 💁‍♀️

I have a single duvet folded in half with various covers which I wash regularly on top of her mattress bed and the duvet washes up well and dries quickly too
That’s what they have in the kennels. And a handy hunt you can get waterproof duvet cover protector things as an extra layer.

Mine say otherwise - the tuffies are chosen over the memory foam, sofas and nests every time
I wonder if yours are a better size? Mine were actually made to fit the raised beds in the kennels and are maybe a bit rectangular for true comfort. They now have yoga mats under duvets on the raised beds 😄

Mine fit exactly on the Large size Hi K9 so maybe a better fit for the spanners?
