Max the scared horse goes global

Lady Gascoyne was like but 100 times more dramatic on every hack.

But great at shows, excellent over xc and accurate with SJ poles. Spookiest phase was dressage and even then it was artistically placed pot plants rather that white boards than were considered untrustworthy. Nothing wrong with her eyes just totally distracted and over thinking if not focused on a job.

Honestly if Max is anything like Mary (and my husband forwarded me that video because it’s so like her) then it’s not eyesight that’s the issue, but insecurity/anxiety.

I could easily make a highlight reel like that for Mary, but 90% of the time she is very laid back, not spooky at all and doesn’t really bother. If she’s feeling insecure on her own, or starting to trigger stack, then she starts looking for things to spook at and does that startle and splay legs on the spot thing. Stuff that she has clearly seen from a distance or even walks past every day but now it could be dangerous (today, that was seagulls in a field, an oil stain on the road that has always been there and a rock that has never moved).

I always think she’s looking to find something to explain her anxiety. If she feels worried, there must be something scary.

She has zero eyesight issues and can spot things far away in the distance but only reacts up close.

I've often wondered if horses like Max, and we had a Connie who had days like him, actually enjoy spooking? That they are in fact confident in their rider but get a little adrenaline hit from spooking, same as many humans do on a rollercoaster.

I think there are one or two bits where he stops and turns a bit which would be less than ideal in a more traffiky situation. He is on quiet roads generally able to use the whole of the road from the look of it and so there is no issue whatsoever from the road safety view but it might be different on a busier road where traffic perhaps passes you closer than it should. I thought it was amusing, and the VoiceOver brilliant but I’m glad somebody said it was lots of bits joined together as I think it might have been a bit of a tiring ride otherwise.
