I'm looking for a joint supplement for Dylan who has been recently diagnosed with arthritis in his knee.

He is already on Equiflex and has been for yonks but I have been recommended to look into green lipped mussel extract and from what I can see looks like it might be worth giving a go.

I have been looking at the pernamax but came across maxaflex which has the green lipped mussel but also general joint ingredients. Again reviews seem to be quite favourable and it would work out cheaper to use the maxaflex rather than the pernamx and the equiflex.

I was looking at the ingredients but to be honest I've been looking at so many different options my eyes are beginning to cross and I could do with some advice!

What do people think?

Here is the maxaflex,

And here is the equiflex,

Thank you!

Following this thread :)

I looked into the maxaflex before and it does look really good! I ended up using Cortaflex as it was recommend by my vet and is really easy to get here (in Ireland)... most agri and horse shops stock it :) But the Maxaflex just looks better? Just too dear for me unfortunately...and hassle to get!

The key difference is that Maxaflex has green lipped mussel instead of chondroitin. I've had better results with it that others ones I've tried but it does seem to vary for horse to horse.

One thing I would say when comparing is check how much of the key ingredients are in the standard dose of any joint supplement. Most you have to feed at the loading dose to get the recommended levels of Glucosamine, MSM and Chondroitin which means some aren't as cheap as it first appears.

I usually buy direct from them but keep an eye for deals and bogofs and stock up.
