maxam adjustable saddle

I've seen a maxam saddle on robinsons online which is adjustable from medium to x wide.
Would this be any good for our 12hh 5 year old welshie type?
It says GP but would it be ok for a pony at the right length?
Does anyone have one?
They're £159
We currently have a 16in adjustable wintec but I feel the flaps are too big.
I really only have a budget of around £200 so would it be worth getting this saddle and getting a fitter out?

I have no idea about adustable ones (didnt know they did them but may have to invest now!) but i have maxam saddles for general use on all of mine because i find them soooo comfy and light weight! I think the flaps on maxam are also quite big (well same as wintec)
 
I didn't know they did them but I was having a nosy on robinsons the one day (as u do lol :D ) and came across them. We did have a maxam on trial once but it was 2 narrow but I did love the lightness of it. I'm thinking of selling the wintec+getting this maxam as the wintec is also fairly heavy. Don't nooo lol
 
Yes we had one, well still have it but no longer have the pony :( .
The saddle however was great. Cheap cheerful light weight. Easy to clean and relatively comfy which surprised me. They are not as adjustable as a wintec or proper thorowgood as only a few different gullets. We used it on a 13.2 welsh x and it fitted her nicely.
 
I have a maxam gp saddle on one of mine at the moment. I bought it 15 years ago as a cheap emergency saddle so I could compete while my 'proper' saddle was being repaired.

Have to say, it is fine for the money but my synthetic griffin is a million times better and not a million times more expensive. Shame the griffin doesn't fit her.

If you go for it I would get the girth straps changed to leather, easier to operate than the synthetic straps. Having said that I've had this saddle 15 years with the original straps and am going to get them changed this summer if it is going to be ponies permanent saddle, so the synthetic straps work fine, I just find them more irritating to use than leather.

PS mine is not adjustable, don't think they did them adjustable back then.
 
I have a couple of the original maxams and they were good little saddles. Back then, they just didn't go wide enough for a muscled up (or fat) exmoor, but I may well dig one out as a backing saddle for Chloe if it fits. I didn't know they did an adjustable one, either. I would def get a saddler to check, though, as the XW wasn't enough back then (probably be ok, now he's slimmer, but he has a made to measure).
