I've had a look at the guidelines and it seems that the general recommendation is that an IW505 can comfortably travel 2 16.2 horses.

My horse is only 15h at a push so height is not an issue but I wondered what is the maximum height of horse that could comfortably travel in a 505 with another horse?

I know every horse is different but I'm just looking for a general indication - any one travel anything bigger than a 16.2 and are they any issues with this?

The Ifor Williams 505 is designed to carry x2 16.2 horses, although I suppose x2 Breton in an IW 505 might be pushing it (or rather, squeezing it). :D

I've a 16.3 WBxTB and travel her on her own (with partition in) in my 505 without problems. I also travelled my 17.3 TB mare several times in the same size trailer when transporting her for xrays. She was an obliging soul and the trip were never longer than 20 mins each way. She travelled okay, but I'd definitely have purchased a larger trailer if she'd been travelled more.

Thank you - I know there are lots of things to consider and not just the height of the horse!

I go out and about a lot with my boy and always have space in my trailer. I'll be taking my friend and her 15.2 out with me most of next year but she also has a 17.2 and I'm not sure if he'd be too big to travel with my boy.

my chunky 16.1 looked a bit squished in a 505 and that was without the partition, he looks like a shetland in a 510 though!

I really wouldn't recommend travelling the taller of your friend's horses with your horse. I travelled my big mare on her own, with the partition out. For a 17.2 to travel in a 505, they have to be of an obliging temperament and I think asking one to 'share' would be pushing their limits of tolerance! You'll be fine travelling two 15.2 horses though. Assuming neither are Sumo sized :)

I have a 505 classic and a 16.2hh. Height wise she's fine, it's width and length that I think it's tight.

I cross tie and only need to travel alone, so out comes the partition which resolves that issue. I'd probably be happy with 2x16.2hh if they were compact and lithe :D

My 16,2 was squished with the partition, his ears touched the roof and I dont think I could av got the rear bar up (we abandonned the journey), he isnt very obliging though. My friends 16.3 struggled to balance with a partition but was happy as Larry without.

I used one of these at the weekend for the first time travelling my 16hh TB (chunkier type). I felt it cam up narrower than the old ones (as that is what i use to use).Thought the lenght and height was fine.
Think ideally will getting the bigger one from now on, as there really didn't seem as much room.
Apart from that thought it was a nice trailer!
