Surely it depends on how much you want to be able to hack? I spent between 2k and 3.5k on mine so I voted in the 3.5k bracket.

When I was looking I wanted a horse that would be a general all rounder, able to do RC activities, happy hack and do the odd hunt. She'll never compete to as high a level as other horses that I could have bought for that amount but she was perfect for what I wanted. Compared to other horses that I've met on yards over the years she is priceless. A happy hacker needs to be able to hack alone, be okay in traffic, canter across open fields in groups etc. Plenty of horses aren't suitable for these sorts of activities and I was happy to pay for what I wanted

1500, then again I think I am a tight arse when it comes to money, you can get something suitable for hacking for that price. If I was going to put someone such as my mum or boyfriend on it then I would pay more to ensure it is bombproof.

If money were no object, then I would pay more, simply because I want a comfortable and obedient ride, and would rather have a good looking horse - put all that together and you often end up paying a little extra!
