May have just insulted a skinny dog owner...

My Ute (or weird, hybrid dog as Blackcob would say) and I get stopped all the time. People take pictures, pull over in their cars etc.

I'm sorry, that was completely not meant as an insult! Indeed, Daxy-dog was sold to us as a supposed British Inuit - I was just annoyed that this bloke was insisting that his were the correct size for northern-type dogs, and that mine was 'too small'. Huskies aren't supposed to be big dogs at all.

Yes but you don't get different breeds/types of babies lol a baby is a baby is a baby! Buts dogs are mad, breeds, types, crosses - I think its confusing sometimes and I live and breathe dogs!

Think the barman has a crush on you......

I believe most people think Malamutes are Huskys so they don't understand when they see a Husky in person, they are only a medium sized dog (minus the fluff).

I love my Ute because he has all the traits of his ancestors:

Loyalty and obedience of a GSD
Vocal range and gregariousness of a Malamute
Intelligence and sneakiness of a Husky
Beauty and wolfy agility of a Czech Wolfdog

(I am susposed to be doing housework.........)

I think the barman has a preference for gigantic wolfydogs instead of little wolfydogs. :p

Oh, and "ooh, she doesn't have prick ears, she can't be a husky!" too - um, she'd have her ears pricked if you weren't talking all mushy to her and feeding her gravy bones which sends her into a floppy-eared, bum-wagging frenzy. :p

I think, like you say, that people assume malamutes and huskies are one and the same. His had a lot of malamute in them, clearly, but were bigger than any I'd ever seen - really don't know how he manages three!

We have been told our older Spinone is a labradoodle! and overheard one guy telling his young daughter on the beach she was a large spangle. Most just ask what they are, we have two now.

Gahhhhhh we had the German Shepherd/Alsatian thing today!!!

Apparently the KC are proposing dropping 'Alsatian' altogether, HURRAY! (Not that I give a toot what the KC do, you understand :p) ah, they have finally realised that we are no longer at war with Germany......

I get "what kind of dog is that?" pointing at tall hairy one
me "It's a jack russell"
"Is it a purebred?"
me "Er..kind of"
"what breed is that one?" pointing at short sleek bandy-legged one
me "It's a jack russell"

*runs away before confused look becomes more questions*

Ooooh for some reason the word Alsatian really irritates me. It should be a banned word!

But you wouldn't go up to a human baby on the street and go 'ooh, isn't it small, you can't possibly be the daddy!'. :p ;) :D

I have twin girls and when they were babies, I used to get stopped all the time for people to stare at them - my favourite stupid question:

"Are they Twins?"

"No, it was Buy one get one free!!!"

And on the doggy front, I have two staffords.
Stupid questions/comments -

"Aren't they pitbulls?"
"Isn't it the law that those dogs should be muzzled?"
"Oh those dogs are very viscious - they should be on a lead!"

My all time favourite was 'Is that one of those poodle-spaniels?':mad:

He left looking rather chastened:p:D

i have two whippets, one adult and a new pup

only the other day while my black and white whippet pup was playing with a lab
the owner of of the lab said'dont worry my lab is used to playing with a JRT'
excuse me shes a whippet!!!

the owner of the lab said'i didnt realise you can get black and white ones'

W e get the usual skinny comments..but some people are quite genuine and interested in the breed

then one person had said to me this is my KC lurcher'..somehow i dont think so,
i had to say lurchers are crossbreeds usually GRH/collie,but any sighthound cross

Don't usually get any silly comments, however a couple of people have asked if Otto is part-Dalmatian!! :D

That made me chuckle. When my 13 yo GSP x Lab (with very pointy features) was a pup, I had him at work and some lads wre playing guess the breed. Dobermann:No, Greyhound:No, Great Dane (;-O):No, then one bloke pipes up 'Dalmation' everyone turned and laughed but he was dealy serious!!!

i've been asked if my clipped out ESS is a english pointer...or a hound?! admitedly he is the biggest and chunkiest ESS i've ever met... but even so!

also constantly being asked if my cocked is a puppy...

i love italian greyhounds btw :) i'd love a pack for hunting :D
