Started to see how others in our class at regionals had qualified. It is not straight forward, I know you have to send your letter but while looking at nov.free.rest. I found 1 horse does not get recognised.1 horse no qualification shown. 2 horses have no record at all and 1 horse has 17 points in elem. competed in nov.rest at summer champs and competed in last winter music champs [should it not be in open?]
Thought I would just see how good they all are ,didn't expect to find strange things .

Ignorance is bliss as they say!

There was no rest and open at freestyle qual. they have only just split it but I thought that when you became open at a level you had to go up to that level at regionals? If you understand me,

As I understand it, if a horse or rider upgrades after qualifying, they are still eligible for the class, and section, that they qualified for. The exception being Prelim, when the rider must still be a group 7 or 8 rider at the close of Championship entries.

As an example, Henry has qualified for the Petplan AM Finals which they have decided to split into Rest and Open now. I recently got a letter from BD asking if I was a Group 4 rider or below AT the time of qualifying, in which case I could go into the Rest. section. (Sadly not!

That will be it then ,I thought you had to upgrade immediately, thats the winner then she came 3rd last year when it was open only and qualified Feb2007 by the looks of it.Well it is first in maybe judge will be grumpy then .Thanks for clarifying that

I'm not sure I've read the whole of this thread quite right, but I know that there have been quite a few issues over which freestyle sections riders should be in.

I have a friend who competed at Myerscough. She is a group 7 rider. She was qualified Nov rest, Nov FS and Elem FS. She was grp 7 rider as you get no points at freestyle. HOWEVER she had to compete in the Nov open section of freestyle as was not allowed to be in the restricted section at 2 levels.

I don't know how BD tend to police who goes in the right section.

By the way where did freestyler come at last years winter champs? was it in the freestyle?

Don't let FREESTYLER see that as she's first in in the other arena!

I was first in at Myerscough regionals at 7.30am and still got a couple of 9's off one judge (and qualified) so don't count on it!!!!

Good Luck though!

I wondered if because she was in the top ten at the Winter Champs last year she would have to be open but that's only if you get 65% or more and she got 64!!

Still doesn't mean she'll win on the day though. You never know with horses what might happen!!

No ,novice restricted at winters and summers, she has only just started music.
The horse I was talking about that has 17 elem.points is in nov.rest. regional and is not entered in elem.So it must be rest.Rules are so complicated.

don't talk to me about rules!! I got caught out 2 years ago for using a neck strap in a 4 year old class on a stallion!! Ended up losing qualification to nationals and having to travel the country to qualify again. Have since become very anal about it and get everything in writing from BD if I have to query any rules.

But Carthorse - I would say, don't worry about the other riders, remember what Richard said about what a lovely horse you had and the good scores he has been getting. It will all go swimmingly and we'll see you at Hartpury (where then It'll all have to go to pot so you don't beat me!!!)

We are going to Hartbury in Spillers and petplan nov.this week is just a maybe!
Yours are in a different league, daughter has just seen Classic Vazire and Fandango on TV. Think it was the 5 year old pot.international ,they are both in the nov. freestyle at Addington.lol

Classic Vazire came last or therabouts at the nationals due to the fact that he got so tense and was naughty. You never know - the same might happen this week?

Fandango is nice, but all can have their off days.

Besides they are in the open, I thought you were in the restricted?

DONT LOOK AT WHO IS IN YOUR CLASS....!!!!!!!!!!! I did this before and know it is best just to leave it to the gods on the day!!!! People make mistakes, horses misbehave, get tense, nervous etc......so anyone can win on the day!!! I cannot look at who is competing with me...sends me into a PANIC mode!!!

Called Addington..........still on at 8.30am...blast!! 3.30am alarm call............may as well just go out partying and stay awake!!

I don't know the facts and Jo is a beautiful rider so will be fabulous. Just meant ,you can't tell much by results as some have different riders and some will have improved a great deal ,just wished I had never looked
