the Mctimoney practitioner came out for Blue today....poor boy was so misaligned!!
his pelvis was misaligned, his back sore and tight, atlas out, withers and neck out...poor boy had the works today so he is in all cwtched up now and have given him 2 sachets of bute to help him as he will be a bit sore now for couple days....bless him!!
anybody find Mctimoney fab???:)
 
yes, i absolutely swear by it, for horses and for me. i've felt it make the most phenomenal differences in me, and seen the difference it makes in the horses. fabulous. so glad your boy is sorted now, does he need a follow-up visit?
 
No sorry I dont find McTimoney Practitioners any good, never have! I call them horse dusters.

I have always used an ACPAT registered physiotherapist for my horses if they have experienced any problems but that's just my personal choice.

Of course you're allowed. I just thought calling them horse dusters was a bit condescending to both practitioners and those who benefit from the practice.

Who? I need one for my boy - we are in Hampshire too.
I have a phone number for Charlotte Williams but don't think she is Mctimoney (sp)?
I have used a Mct chiropracter for my back in the past and she was great (she was into horses but didn't DO them) need to see her again after a car accident last August but concerned about the horse at the moment!

I agree with TicTac, cant find the scientific basis for what they do and they have never picked up the real issue for me. Curious as to what they actually mean when they describe something as 'out'.

Hmm, I am a little confused that you say you can't find any scientific basis for what they do? Can you find a scientific basis for what a 'normal' physio does? Surely the basic principles are the same? I am not expert by any means but I do use a McTimoney guy for my horses and i have seen the results and he has certainly helped my horse. I have in the past used a physio lady who was also very good (Janet Ellis) and again I saw results but I have had a different physio lady come who really didn't do anything at all!

In my mind they are all essentially qualified equine physiotherapists and Mctimoney is just a slightly different approach.

Maybe I am totally wrong? At the end of the day if the results you see are positive then I would continue with using whoever you prefer.
 
Probably should have said that I can see that touching and massaging human or horse is likely to be beneficial, but seeing a leg yanked about must surely be damaging where there could be ligament/tendon/muscle strain/inflamation which is how a bony structure is pulled out of alignment. Doesnt it need rest and gentle massage? This is just my experience, and Im glad if others feel it works. I certainly feel better after a massage.
 
I have a mctimoney lady and she's fab, I always see a huge difference in my horses after her visits, even if there were no particular problems to begin with. She has worked absoulte wonders with my sore, weak little shetland. I'd recommend her to anyone.

Agree with above

The McTimoney guy we use is fantastic and has consistently made a real difference to my horses. If he didn't, I wouldn't use him!
 
In my experience I think it all depends on the individual. We had a Mctimoney lady come out to our yard... Specifically for a young pony after about 6 sessions and a couple of hundred. It was decided she wasn't improving.

We then got recommend a different chiropractor who was amazing and made a real difference. She was also a trains EBW

I think that it's all ok to be 'put right' if something is 'out' so to speak but unless the muscles are worked properly massage/exercise then it could eventually happen again.

I,ve been through the same thing with my own back spent weeks and weeks seeing a chiroparactor. Nice feeling when I went but it would return a few days later.

Didn't you book the McTimoney person???? Is that why it was such a surprise to you that you had to exclaim it???!!!!
Is he from a riding school then???
And I don't find McTimoney 'fab'!!! It's just one of a number of useful tools!!!

Yes I did book the Mctimoney lady to come out as a routine procedure...not quite sure what you mean shilisdair, but I was quite shocked as to how much was 'wrong' with him! No I have had him a couple of months and no he isn't from a riding school..what makes you say that??
