Has anyone ever used one and for what reason? Did you see any improvements or waste of money??

Thank in advance

My experience was not good. The YO at the time suggested my horse had a sore back. The McTimoney chap came out, dangled a crystal over him and did not much else. I discovered some time later that the 'sore back' was referred pain from arthritis in his hocks, which I would have spotted if I knew then what I know now. Waste of money and no help to my boy. Hope you have better luck if you go down this route.

I've used a McTimmony lady with very good results. I've seen quite a few posts on here where people have generally been pleased with the results.
Horse went from being 'not right' (can't put finger on it sort of not right) to being seen by vet, dentist, saddler, massage and finally mctimmony and it was the mctimmony lady who fixed him

I had a better experience - no crystals involved, lots of stretches and a little manipulation. Seems to make a positive difference in b. We had a lady from wales up to see ours. Janette or janine or something

I've had McTimoney on my horse and on myself. My horse is a fairly sensitive soul and it made a huge difference to him. He went from going disunited all the time and bucking in canter, also napping in the school and refusng to go forwards, to working beautifully after about 3 treatments. I saw improvements after each treatment until he was right.

When I had it for my own back, I was in agony. I was taking a cocktail of sedatives, muscle relaxants, pain killers & anti-inflammatories and still could hardly walk

I hobbled in and when I came out I felt as though I was floating - I couldn't wipe the grin off my face as I could actually walk down the street without being in agony.

McTimoney won't cure everything but if there is a possible problem with the alignment of the vertebrae I would go for McTimoney every time.

BTW - I've been treated by physios, other chiros, osteos and I've been refered to a pain clinic - Id choose McTimoney over all of it

The website doesnt mention anything about crystals

He is reluctant to go forwards especially on the lunge and in the school, physio cant find anything wrong and dentsit done teeth, so thought about trying this

I had a brilliant experience.

I don't know about the crystal wormhugs, that's def not McT-C! Leg pain is often secondary to back pain so if there was a hock problem it could have originated from back pain and moving to compensate it. Not sure re arthritis though.

Anyway my arab mare had always been "funny" over her back, would dip when you mounted, saddle slipped to the right and walked crouched for a few strides. Had numerous vet examinations, an over night stay in teh vet hospital, custom made saddle, physio etc etc and everyone gave her a clean bill of health but I knew someone wasn't right.

By pure chance there was a McT-C lady on my yard as she was doing her EBW course with my friend. Straight away she noticed that Shiraz's pelvis was out of alignment and set to work on them. She came out around 4 times and Shiraz got massage from my friend in between, she also gave me an exercise plan (long reining, raised poles etc) and exercises and stretches to do myself. The difference was unbelieveable. Shiraz changed shape, could work properly and I could see the difference in her (almost) aligned pelvis.

She worked over my mare's spine and her hind legs, she also watched her moved in hand and ridden and done gait analysis over a set distance. No crystals!

I found this really worked for my mare.

I've just had one for ME, who also treats horses.
I had her because my right hip kept dropping whilst riding and I was always slipping over to that side and my right shouder was also forward and up. She immediatley spotted both of these 'mis-alignments' and corrected them. McTimoney technique basically does more gentle re-alingments of the joints (trad chirporacture gives you a good shove with a click/ crack of the joint, not nice!). I felt so much better afterwards, my usual aches & pains so much better (gone apart from sore muscles where she had massaged out my knots).
I'd recommend giving it a go but make sure they are qualified!

McTimoney practitioners don't use crystals - this must have either been a dfferent sort of treatment or you were conned!

Just to add - before you get anyone other than a vet, make sure he vet has seen the horse and is happy for you to do so. I know of someone whose horse had to be PTS as it had a broken back and she had been getting an osteopath out to it for weeks. She hadn't had the vet out and as a result the horse got much worse.

Would have been pts anyway but it's suffering was prolonged and it cost her for the treatment etc.

I use a McTimoney-Corley therapist for my horse and i couldn't recommend them more. My horse loves it when she comes out to treat him and he goes better after every treatment. Pm me if you'd like the web address of my practitioner for more information

My McT-C peep and my EBW friend both require you to sign forms to say that you have your vets permission before starting treatment. I think it will be required by all practioncers(sp) insurers

It does seem that other people have had very positive experiences, so perhaps I did get a duff one!!
Re the back/leg pain- my horse moves with a 'swagger' behind. He was broken very very young and the vet said that his hock joints never got a chance to form properly. The YO thought that his action looked like a sore back, but it does turn out that it is just how he goes. Its never slowed him down though, bless his little cotton ones!!

Yes. My AI is also a McTimoney chiro and has fixed Charlie's back twice now.

Waving a crystal is not McTimoney. Sounds more like BS!

i can't recommend mine highly enough

As for crytsals stuff that's DEFO NOT a McTimoney treatment , as I don't go in for that 'tree hugging stuff' in anyway shape or form - Person who had crystal cr*p done WAS CONNED!!! out of their dosh

This is not a McTimoney Practitioner!!! I am currently training in Mctimoney Corley and there is no crystals involved. Sounds like another type of 'therapy' to me!

Mctimoney involves stretching and non invasive manipulation, most of my experiences have been very positive (hence why i am training in it!) but as with any technique there are some people that are better than others.

If the OP wants any more info, feel free to PM me.
