Hi, have won a raffle prize of a back treatment from someone who is McTimoney qualified. (Many thanks JillA and EMW

) Have only every used a normal equine physio before. What exactly is McTimoney, would we be okay to have this treatment instead of Murph's next check up or would it be more sensible to use it for the other pony?

I've used physios, and "back" people in the past, but have used a Mctimoney Chiro for my horses for the past 5 years any myself the last year (I am soooo crooked).

If you have a look on the Mctimoney Chiropractors Association website it will explain more.

Defo worth it in my opinion.

Thanks for the positive replies. Looks like Murph might be getting a bit of a treat. Another question, is McT like physio, will the person have to speak to my vet first?

I have recently had a McTimoney person out to my horse . I was a bit dubious but she was excellent! Really thourgh and knew what she was taking about. spent ages watching him trotted up and turning in a tight circle to assess his movement before checking his pelvis and various other bits of him. His pelvis was slightly out and his atlas so she corrected both (leg and head manipulation) and had him out again to check it was level on the concrete. She spent 2hours and was £40 so i thought excellent value. Horse is def better too. she is a friend of a friend so not sure if i got mates rates or if she should have had vet recomendation

p.s you do have to have veterinary permission, i.e. I ask all my clients to get permission for treatment from their vet, this is usually done by a quick phone call, and i provide a report to any vets that need it, but only normally requested for horses/dogs with serious back problems
