My cousin took me too see War Horse at the National Theatre last week, has anyone been to see it?

It was fantastic, it tells the story of the horses used in WW1 and uses life size puppets of horses, its great, they have the animation of the horse so perfect.

Its very sad and although not a true story, could well be as horses were bought from the public and taken to france to pull carrages/guns and ridden by officers. Thousands of horses lost thier lives.

My cousin took his wife, daughter (Sally the only other horsey person in the family) two sons and me........Well the three women cried throught, it was so sad.

It brings home the reality of wars gone by and I thank god that man nor beast has to fight like that now. I'm not sure that Ralph would have coped in such circumstances. But you have to remember that back in the 1900's horses were not used for pleasure and were work animals, so maybe easier to adapt, but then how can any animal or human be asked to stand up against a tank? As I say thank god things have changed, except of course that people still want to kill and fight due to money and religion?

I'll stop now......go and see it if you can its great or read the book.

I would love to go and see this - I read the book when I was younger and it really is very profound. I revisited it for A-level last year when we were studying war literature, I'd forgotten all about it and it made me cry when I re-read it

I've seen it. Thought the puppets were awesome but I wasn't too keen on the bits they changed from the book and was slightly amused by the "wandering" accent of the mother

Think I should of bought duvet to work for a duvet day!

It was fab, but i spent most of my energy focusing on how realistic the horses were, so i didn't get round to crying at the sad bits!!! I did have the kleenex at the ready though!

Loved the goose!! hee hee :- )))
