being the idiot i am i posted a status on facebook saying that my saddle that my saddler fitted just over a year ago is too long according to another saddler, my 17.2hh ISH has the same length back as a 14.2hh, hes in an 18inch saddle and it sits past his last rib, me being stupid posted it on fb and the people from my old yard told my saddler, hes now getting ****** with me (understandably) but i at no point put his name i just blamed 'my fat arse' for it my problem is he has another saddle for selling that is mine and he wants to take my current saddle (which is apparently too long) back even though i paid for it :(

im such an idiot sometimes!

LOL!!!!.....How do you know THIS saddler is telling the truth?!!!!!
I feel sure if you ignore it .....it will go away.

Bryndu:)

i want to laugh but im a worrier so im in a panic at the mo :/ me being an idiot again posted it on here WTH, but because we measured it together, i have never really noticed before but it kinda adds up as he does have back problems, at his croup and just in front, and i know she could just be after me buying a new saddle but hmmm yeah im an idiot :)

Oh dear....well...just think of the positive outcome you have achived with this saddler....and if you still feel unsure.....get another opinion......
Another tip would be to have a look on line at a horses' skeleton and see if you can find where your saddle ends.....and remember......if people are being horrid to you.....at least some other poor soul is being left alone......:)

Take care
Bryndu

no he just said take it back, i got it from him in the first place part exchaged for one of my saddles and paid the rest then he fitted it for free every time as he promised it would fit and 'my horse is always changing shape' -.- hes 10years old so he was coming to see me every 3-4 weeks to see my saddle, but he just wants to take it back and obviously im pissed off at this because its my saddle but i dont want to talk to him as i know hes going to be in a massive stress with me about it :/

thats the thing i dont think it fits either because its only about an inch from where his point of hip would be if it was a it higher :/ but it sits properly at the front, i think it doesnt help that im 17 and they think i dont know what im talking about but my mum is usually here (shes in spain) and she tells me if they are defiantly right as she has been around horses for 37 years, so i think thats why everyone tells me im wrong haha but yes some else can have a day off ;) thank you

Blimey!....It does sound too long.
I take it you are not a particularly large 17 year old?
What make is the saddle? If it is a known make...take a photo and send it to the Soc Of Master Saddlers and ask for their opinion....

Bryndu:)

Nobody has the right to take your possessions. The saddle is not his saddle so tell him to take a running jump.

oh no hahaha im 5'4ft and a size 10 haha its a thorowgood t4 so they have large panels too which doesnt help :/

Thank goodness!

Ok.....can you put a pic on here? I have no idea how to do that but then we can ALL have a go at your saddler..:)

Bryndu

haha i havent got a pic of it i will bring him up when i go down the yard in a bit and will take a pick of it on him...not too sure how to do it either haha, i would post it on fb then send a link to the photo but i think i would just be digging a hole haha :)

ah-ha i will draw where it should be with chalk then put it on him and you can see how far back it is sitting :) we put a 16.5 inch saddle on him and it fitted perfectly but they have short flaps so it looks a bit strange :)

Id be telling my saddler that if he put as much effort in measuring his saddles properly as he did on chasing up flippant facebook moans then maybe he wouldnt have these problems. what a muppet.

Yep...too long...not gonna sit on a part of him that has support underneath..so guess what

StormyMoments has a saddle for sale!

Oh....and you and your big mouth got a result! Well done.

Bryndu:)

haha thank you Bryndu :) i shall be on the look out for a new one :)... possibly keep this for a while not to ride in but i have another horse that will be broken in in a years time so it might fit her (doubt it) he has told me it isnt an 18 inch and its actually a 17.5 inch but its still too big haha thanksss :):D
