Blimey, it's been a long week and a half!
After lot's of organising i moved myself and Major a week and a half ago! I was un-sure of what to expect really, havingnever lived away from home, and always having been pretty much self-employed it was a big change for me going to a full time, sole charge job.
The job itself is sole charge of 8 horses, 3 eventers, 1 hunter, an ex-eventer coming back from an injury and 3 retired horses! He is an international rider and their standards are very high, i will be honest week one was crazy and i did wonder what i'd let myself in for.
I didn't have a normal day all week and managed to get no breaks and work 7-7 most days, i was wondering how anyone could keep that up, and i was terribly home sick which didn't help. However on Saturday stuff had started to work out and we took the 6yo to Milton Keynes to do a Novice run, i really enjoyed it and (if i may say so myself) the horse looked great, and we were placed!!
This week has been much better, i've settled in to the flat and the yard is running smoothly and i'm enjoying the job. Particularly the riding
Major seems to of settled in really well, and whilst i feel bad for doing all of one schooling session since i got here i don't care because the hacking is awesome! We're having lot's of fun and now that i can tow my trailer we have lots of things planned.
So all in all a rocky start but i'm settling in and enjoying the job, just as i thought i would
here are a few photos!!
Major still isn't too sure about these!
Some of the hacking
Look at his worried little ears, he wasn't too keen on the cars going underneath and i did have a battle to get over it the first time!
A few of the yard
And my flat, it's 2 bedroom on two floors (as you can see) and as far as grooms accomidation goes is pretty awesome, and even better because i don't pay for anything
Complete with my little cat!
So there you go, we're all moved and pretty settled in! 2011 has been a pretty rough year personally so fingers crossed this is going to be good!
