mmm, he is one good looking beast.

And the video is just light pornography for those of us who have inappropriate feelings for your rider :p

Lovely horse and you're obviously doing well together. :-)

In the picture he looks really unhappy with his mouth and massively over bent though :-( Can you have hands high but horse less like he is in painful bondage?

The video isn't as bad (didn't watch all of it, just a few snippets) but if you look just at his head area and forget the fancy foot work you'll see a few times he is unhappy there too.

Realise from re-reading the thread that it is two separate riders (sorry, recently married, all other men interchangeable atm!) - perhaps you can get the David chap to help you give a little more/ditch (at least) the flash?

Have fun with your gorgeous hard-working animal.

An amazing and exquisite delight. Look at the muscle tone, the conformation, the legs.........

Armas doesn't look too bad either :D:p;)

Crikey - can you stop doing this to me? It's bad enough that I have to look at this on Facebook. I am only a couple of years from 40.......this man makes me feel like a love struck teenager.

I know, I know - more cold water for AH

Its lovely the Spanish wall attempt just don't get why he's got his chin on his chest to do it?

The horse has only just started learning Spanish walk so I think there's got to be some consessions given. From what I know about Spanish walk, it isn't something you teach on Day 1 and that's that forever more. It isn't a direct teaching, it's a continuation of many teachings in order to perfect it. The horse is lifting his head/neck nicely and I'm sure in further pictures we'll see the horse being helped to correct his head carriage.

I haven't commented on any Armas threads before but I think the difference is incredible in such a short space of time.

Its not the high hands causing the overbentness - its the lack of relaxation of the jaw (impossible in a flash/grackle as the horse has something to brace against) and lack of education of the mouth. Hes also tense through the poll but thats an obvious second to the jaw.

Until he has been taught to relax his tongue and jaw he will always look like that and always be behind the vertical.

He is beautiful as always though.

Just an observation as I know nothing about the movement you are trying to achieve but compared to David riding the same movement you appear to be tipping forward slightly and have your hands curled inwards which may be blocking/contributing to his head position as it would be difficult to give and take the rein? All the same it looks like he is trying very hard to please and he looks very handsome and clean, how many baths a day is he having?!!

He is not in pain he has a tendency to drop his head behind the vertical. Its not there due to force.

He has a tendency to drop his head behind the vertical that is some thing we are working on. Its not there due to force. Also it does not help that I am also learning. My hands are a little to rigid and must be more relaxed and softer in order to allow Armas the freedom so that he can move his shoulders and bring his head up. When he has his head high his step will be higher and straighter.
I hope that makes sense.

David is a professional Spanish trainer he has been teaching horses SW since he was a child. This was my first attempt at trying the movement.
I wish I was as good as David sadly that would take about a million years :)

Lovely. I love watching armas' progression. Great vid and you look to be doing an impressive job with the Spanish walk to say you are also learning

How wonderful to watch - thank you for posting - he is a stunning animal & real credit to you. He looks to be a rather buzzy, but willing soul - oh, those listening ears (especially around 10:00) - almost too eager & maybe just in too much of a hurry to please at times - am sure he will be totally awesome when he relaxes into it some more - he starts to slow down & really get it towards the end of the video. Your trainer rides beautifully - i actually watched the video twice - the first watching Armas, & the second watching the rider - what he does with his hips as he asks for SW & also especially liked the moment around 3:29 where he is about to ask for more SW & appears to decide the horse is a little too tense & allows him to just walk on. Is Armas a Lusitano? (sorry if i've asked that before).

Just watched Day 21 - WOW!!! Funnily enough when i was watching the first video, i almost commented that sone bits would be great in slow motion!!

He is a beautiful and well loved PRE. David AKA Brown boots will be returning to stay with me in April for two months as I am keen to progress both Armas and me.
David is an accomplished dressage rider and trainer who specializes in Classical Dressage and Doma Vaquerra. He studied under Sr Manuel Vidrie Gomez, co-founder of the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art in Jerez, Spain. So he knows his stuff.

Ah - a PRE! I should have known - we have a PRE filly coming to live with us in a few months - she's still in Spain at the moment but will be over when the weather is a bit better.
