Ok - both my boys are complete and utter wusses, come winter oh the only place they want to be is tucked up in the stable with hay nets ! - even up until last week as soon as 4.15pm comes they are either at the gate or canter up to me as soon as i appear..... this weekend however I have left them out virtually 18 hours.... do they care when they see me - NO, were they at the gate at 7pm last night or 9 pm or 6am or 10 am - fraid to say a big NO to all of those.... did they wait for carrots tonight when i turned them out at 5 pm.... NO, did they look interested in me when i went to check them at 7pm.... NO - am i worried about them being out overnight.... YES...

You have to wonder whom is controlling whom here !

But isnt it a fantastic feeling after a pretty hard winter for your ponies to be out playing, and grazing and sleeping when they want too, rather than do as we choose - I love the light nights, long grass and the sense of freedom the boys can have -

Mine are out 24/7 all year round but soon as the grass comes through they never come to greet me or are waiting for their tea...............but this makes me feel the hard slog through winter is well worth it!!

Mine don't come down until about 1.30 pm now (when the flies start to bother them) to come in for their breakfast whereas a couple of weeks ago they were waiting to come in at 8.00 am.

You are all so lucky!

Mine are waiting for me at 6.30 every morning and get stroppy if I'm a bit late. They are waiting at the gate from 4pm for their tea even though they don't get it until 5 ish, and they are still wolfing down haylage like it's the middle of winter even though I'm trying to phase it out.

To make it even worse they are hoovering the floor like they've never been fed before - making me feel very, very guilty because I'm thinking of cutting out the haylage and in a few weeks cutting out their tea

Mine decided she didnt want to come in tonight for her tea...... gave me the run around in the field lol she did give up in the end!
