Does anyone know where to obtain traditional meadow seed.

I'm not looking for a standard "horse paddock mix". I understand that these require a fertile soil. Our soil is acidic and i do not want to fertilise/lime the fields as both of my horses are very good doers. I'm a big believer in allowing horses to graze a large area of rough grazing rather than a richer small area.

I'm just looking to patch poached areas rather than totally reseed.

Thanks

OH was an agricultural contractor, we planted our own fields with an equestrian mix, wouldn't use it again, its coarse and quite unpalatable, the horses and even the sheep don't like it much. We have also planted permenant pasture (without clover) which have proved much more suitable, still slow growing and tough, he would recommend planting it at a higher seed rate, instead of a bag/acre use 1.5 or even a bit more.
Your local ag merchant should be able to advise you.

Thanks everyone
