I'm looking into buying a warmblood mare. I'm a Welsh Cob girl originally, so trying to get to grips with the 'Who's who' in warmblood bloodlines and the terminology.
I was looking at one earlier who's dam was a MSB. I assume this is a registration/grading body type thing like KWPN for dutch WB's, but what does it mean? I can't seem to find much out from google.
Any help on this or general advice on warmblood bloodlines would be appreciated! :-)

I am guessng could be main stud book, but not sure as havent read the full terminology/advert.

as for bloodlines what do you actually want. SJ/Dressage etc etc. Mare for breeding or competing ?

Thanks for your help so far.
Really I just want a mare as an all rounder with the view to bring on and do a bit of eventing. I'd perhaps like to breed from her at some point aswell.
I don't really need to know the ins and outs of it all really, I just got a bit interested!
It could be Main Stud Book I guess. It was placed under the dams name in the pedigree as it was with KWPN, BWB etc for the others.
If they have those letters would it mean they were graded with those studbooks (KWPN etc) or just registered with them? Does a horse have to be of a certain quality to register with them? Can horses be registered with more than one? I thought I saw that somewhere.
I'm a bit confused by it all! These are probably all dim questions- I don't know anything about this it appears! :-) ..but if I don't ask I never will!

Thanks x

What studbook is the mare registered with?
A horse can be registered with multiple studbooks - my stallion is registered KWPN and AES (with whom he is licensed) Many stallions are approved by multiple studbooks. Having KWPN (for example) under a horse's name in a pedigree doesn't necessarily mean that they are graded with that studbook - you would be looking for a further predicate (ster, keur etc) - it just indicates the studbook/society that they are registered with. It can all be a bit confusing, and I haven't explained very fully, but it is also very interesting once you get into it!!
