Need to buy a dressage girth, but i dont know what size! Is there a pattern - like if the horse is a 56" normal girth, it'll be a X" dressage girth? Or do you just use a tape measure? If so, where do i measure from and to?!

Many thank you's!

alot depends on the length of the girth straps. my gelding is 40inch normal girth, 20inch on old albion, but only 16inches on passier, we had to get a girth made specially as they don't seem to make them that short!

why not just pop the saddle on and get out the tape measure, or have you not bought it yet?

When I measured for one, I put the saddle on and put a tape measure round from one side to the other to the middle of the girth holes - so when my girth arrived it ended up fitting exactly where Id fitted it to.

measure it with the saddle on. Recently I tried loads of saddles but my girth didnt fit all of them.
Also when I first got my saddle I had a 22" girth, I then bought an albion in 24" and it fit the same. Im sure if you buy a girth and it doesnt fit they will allow you to take it back or exchange it.
