Measuring for Sprenger Dynamic RS Eggbutt Snaffle

I am just about to buy a Sprenger Dynamic RS and was wondering how everyone else got the right measurement for their horses mouth.

I've been told a few different ways to measure, one that it's just a normal measurement, for example if your horse is a 5" the RS will be a 5". I've also seen that you need to take off 1/4" to take into account the curve of the RS so a 5" you would order a 4 3/4".

Any ideas are welcome

Mine is normally a 51/2" in the KK sprenger loose ring lozenge, in my RS dynamic she's a 51/4 the 53/4 would be too big. They are fabulous bits and my two go really well in them.

Thank you Rouletterose, I've taken the plunge and bought the 5", the only one smaller is 4 1/2" of the one I want and I think that will be way to small.

I'm really hoping that my mare will love it as much as other people say their horses love theirs
